I realize that time stands still with regards to players and their covid years, but how much more eligibility does Skinner have? I assume O'Neal is back to finish up her doctorate?
They've had some transfers out too they just haven't been posted itt. Although I think Molly Philips going in the portal was posted in here iirc.
Yet I'm sure she'll love it more than the view that repeats day after day. That's what happens when people care.
Holy shit. Two years of eligibility left too. I've got no idea how they're working the scholarships in combination with NIL. Wouldn't be surprised to see a new transfer out now? But who the fuck knows...it's a new day with NIL and how that all affects roster management.
Our roster was championship caliber as is but....her ceiling is as high as anyone's. She's an athlete of the Andi Jackson and Harper Murray caliber. I'm sure our coaches will be able to get the best out of her as they have the track record in doing that. GBR!
Last year? Not better than what we have. Previous year to that? Good enough in combination with her hitting that she was 1st team AA and B1G POY. With all that said, Cook might not even have her play 6 rotations so it might all be a moot point. Time will tell
Some kind words for Nebraska in our paper. “Now Landfair will play for John Cook, who has built a dynasty with four national titles over 24 seasons at Nebraska. His team is the showcase of college volleyball, an arena packing, TV ratings behemoth that set the record for attendance at a women's sporting event this year when 92,003 fans watched it play Nebraska Omaha at Memorial Stadium.”
I feel bad for Minny that we took Choboy and now Landfair. I hope you guys get back towards the top. We also need as many teams as possible giving Wisky headaches.
I really miss Hugh as the HC. He was so good and I loved listening to him. Pretty weird situation to retire mid-career but he is in a unique situation. His wife’s parents were murdered in China while the family was there for the Olympics (while he was coaching). They were the owners of a decent sized local chain of floral and garden stores (Bachman’s) so money isn’t an issue for the family. He has kids in their teen years and he didn’t want to miss all of their activities so he prioritized that versus the continuing grind of coaching.
Wow, I didn’t know that. What an awful thing to go through and I’m sure he feels some guilt there. Just awful.
That was the 2008 Olympics, well before he was the coach at Minnesota. But I think it’s just trauma that a family goes through and makes you think about things differently. I think it even played in to quitting the Olympics coaching to be at Minnesota where his wife is from. His wife had been an Olympic volleyball player too.
My kid opted to focus on basketball in winter (after not making a team in her club from last year, chose not to try out for others) and only play VB in the fall/summer so I’m fucking ecstatic I won’t be traveling for club this season.
That makes sense considering Landfair is coming. Overall it's an upgrade but damn Cook & Co. are ruthless. They've gotta always look to improve the roster if they want to be in the Final 4 every year.
She'll probably go to Creighton and they'll beat us next year for the first time. Careful what you wish for
She doesn’t use a scholarship so she wouldn’t be forced out. Or do you just mean shocked she hasn’t left to go somewhere she would play more?
Why is that? I wouldn't think she had visions of anything more than her current role considering she's a walk on
