This is their only time in orlando. I should’ve went a few years ago when they were in Tampa but passed and have regretted it since. It’s so rare they come to Florida.
Yeah I saw them in 2013/14 here and they were amazing. It was a small venue and it was much louder than I had anticipated. Had Moses Sumney opening for them too, which was my intro to him.
Doors are at 7. I’m here now and there are 8 people here and they’re all 17-22 year old girls. Did i miss what their demographic is?
do you think baroque pop is going to bring in some manly dudes because let me tell you the coachella-attending, flower headdress-wearing tweens are gonna be all up in that show
Fair enough. I guess my mindset more is they’ve been around for a decade now so I didn’t expect *that* young of a crowd. Also I’m now old. Leave me alone.
and when you got into them you were the same age as coachella-attending, flower headdress-wearing tweens :) their music hasn't changed so their audience won't either. look at who listened to "for emma, forever ago" bon iver compared to whoever listens to it now
I think Local Natives has changed quite a bit, personally. I'd expect the younger crowd after their last couple albums. Much more synth and way less cool guitar stuff now than when they first came out. I still dig them, and I'm an old guy.
opening with Sun Hands really set the tempo and mood for the night it's weird how album wise I always feel they are a bit softer but live they play that shit hard
Unfortunately last time I saw them their demographic totally changed and not only were there a ton of younger kids, but those who were there totally sucked and almost ruined the show for me. The music and band were great though. Two girls walked onto the floor and stood in front of me and were getting in my face during the show.
These are the ones I ordered Eargasm High Fidelity Earplugs for Concerts Musicians Motorcycles Noise Sensitivity Conditions and More (Ear Plugs Come in Premium Gift Box Packaging) - Blue Cornelius Suttree might have recommendations too
this was the opener and this dude is pretty talented they also did a cover of Waterfalls that was good
Been super picky about shows lately but have a nice itinerary for the next few months: Oh Sees 9/30 Nilufer Yanya 10/1 White Reaper 10/16 (Sandy) Alex G 10/29 Penelope Isles 11/1 Mikal Cronin w/ Shannon Lay 11/6 NOTS 11/13 (will miss Black Belt Eagle Scout this night, unfortunately) DIIV 12/8
Been listening to the most recent Future Islands album a ton the past few weeks. Was really depressed when that came out and it's just got a totally different feel to me now. It still has a sad beauty to it but I'm finding it much more uplifting than the last couple times it was a big part of my rotation Woo
Thanks for posting this. My music hard drive crashed about a year ago and I found a backup drive that had a two year gap in what I had downloaded, and I just realized I was missing a ton of Future Islands. Psyched to listen to all of their music. It's funny, I got dragged to see Morrissey (fuck him and his beliefs and his total and complete arrogance about his music - literally played 2 Smiths songs and didn't even play two of his top solo songs) unfortunately a few weeks ago and for the first time I made the connection between Morrissey as a showman and the lead singer of FI. I just went to their redacted page and they had The Smiths as their closest similar band. I really don't see it from a musical standpoint, but they have similarities on stage and how they look and move.
Through the Roses always makes me very sad and then he hits us with the "together, we can pull through" part and I'm happy again.
I saw Patterson Hood called it his album of the year already. Haven't had a chance to listen, but not surprising she put out a masterpiece.
Was listening to it on Spotify and then read Nate Smith was the drummer, I instantly decide to listen to every second of it. He’s really one if the best drummers out there right now. Nate has also recently done a project with some of the the guys from Vulfpeck called Fearless Flyers, one to check out if you like Vulfpeck at all.
I didn’t dislike UFOF but it was a lot more like Adrienne Lenker’s solo album than what I would’ve expected.
