The difference will be in Federal judges. We've been somewhat lucky that Shelby has been there, because he's been solid at selecting judges for nomination. Shelby is not running again, so our days with that "check" are numbered. Sessions and Byrne will probably have enough pride as lawyers to nominate actual lawyers. I'm hopeful that Tuberville will recognize his own incompetence and defer to people who know. If Moore ends up in that seat, we're in big trouble.

I know I’m being vague here but there were campaign ads from an Alabama politician a few years ago that were so outlandish they were a parody. I feel like making the dmv English only was a big part of them. Can anyone help a brother out? Edit: that’s a bingo
tubs from his al daily news interview lmao "That is one of the reasons I ran because I’m a Donald Trump guy. I didn’t sleep for about a week after he got elected, excited because I knew that he would work hard. Now, I didn’t know he would be this successful this quick, even without any help. Very little help." https://www.aldailynews.com/in-the-weeds-tuberville-disrupts-senate-race-as-outsider/
it is art. “It just makes sense” long look down “Does it to you?” Fin award that producer an academy award
If Roy Moore was good for anything, he kept that man from being governor by splitting the imbecile vote. So instead, we got the incompetent geriatric Robert Bentley.
my thing about this is how dont all the younger voters, or at least College Educated Alabamians, not use this + their experience of republican politics broadly to come to the conclusion that their Conservative right wing ideology was always a sham. I see no evidence of it, at least. The furthest people go I know there is to Never Trump status, as if the failures of the Bush’s and Gingrich werent enough. But most have talked themselves into Trumpism.
It’s overall a mixed bag of things. I haven’t seen a lot of numbers on this, but I’d say a good many, not a majority but a substantial number, of the college educated whites are Democrats. The Alabama Democratic Party is one of the most incompetent organizations known to man, and many of them would rather fight each other for power within the party than their political opponents. The voting base of the party is now almost completely African Americans and college educated white liberals in cities. The cultural movement critique is also on point. Racism definitely plays a part but there has to be more to it then that. Most of rural Alabama was Democrat until the late 90s. The county I grew up in, majority white was a Democrat bastion. It voted for Mondale and Dukakis. 2004 was first time it went GOP presidential. And until about 14 years ago, people didn’t even run as Republicans in local races because you had no chance of winning. Now it’s totally changed and is solid Trump country. I know the GOP has played the party of Christianity card very hard in those rural areas and I have to assume that’s played a huge part because it isn’t GOP economics.
A decade of Fox News tricked those rural whites into thinking illegal immigrants and Democrats are ruining the country.
A lot do, especially in Birmingham and Huntsville, which have the highest concentrations of college-educated people. The problem is largely that democratic candidates here have absolutely zero help from the state party.
Fran Tarkenton These are worth listening to: https://www.al.com/news/2019/12/popular-podcast-tackles-alabamas-democratic-split.html
I would say 60-ish percent of the college educated whites I know in Birmingham are either liberal or center-left. Progressive wing is very small though; only met four or five folks who publicly declared support for Bernie from the get-go (including a never-Hillary guy in ‘16)
Man I forgot about the Texas Tech mid dinner bail out And at him claiming Mahomes Tubbs deserves to be locked in a pine box and thrown in the pacific
If the state party in Alabama were to help someone they would actually have to do something other than line their pockets.
Doesn't Trump hate Sessions now? I feel like Tubbs has gone full MAGA and we both know how much Trump loves a football guy that likes him.
No it wasn't. Moore always was considered the favorite over Strange. Strange was despised in Alabama by Republicans because everyone believed he bought the Senate seat in exchange for letting Bentley's corruption go.
Yes, but Sessions is such a cuck that he's played his pro-Trump credentials up as much as possible. Trump will stay out of the race this time because Tubs is one of the few candidates that Jones would have even the slightest chance of beating.
