Was neat to check out Carter's guitars and walk over for lunch @ Arnolds. Food was decent, but not outstanding.
What is the best part of town for a weekend getaway for my wife and me? 40s, want to catch some music, don't want to be around pedal bar bachelorette parties and 20y old drunken bullshit.
Have to do Broadway at least once, it’s not terrible in the afternoons. Fiancee had a girls weekend with sister/aunt/mom in Leipers Fork area. If you want to be around 40+ year olds stay in Franklin, Belle Meade, Leipers Fork. Go to Arrington Vinyards.
Yeah, that's a tough ask. You should stay at one of the many nice hotels downtown, but you can't really avoid pedal taverns in that case. You could venture out to East Nashville, Germantown, Midtown, 12 South areas for food and drinks and avoid the pedal taverns in those areas.
I’m moving to Nashville for 3-6 months at the beginning of April. I need all must eat places that are family friendly (4 year old), golf courses worth a shit mal630, and anything else to do with a kid. All of my trips to your city were when I was young, single, and looking for debaucher. Any recommendations are appreciated
We’ll be living in a townhouse somewhere close to Nashboro(?) golf course. Wife will be working at Centennial hospital
You'll be fairly close to me then most likely. Gonna have to venture away from the neighborhood for best places to eat ans stuff but the golf course is actually really nice.
I figured we would have to head toward downtown for food. Is there anything out that way or what area is easiest to get to, park, etc without dealing with Broadway?
I'm not very familiar with that area of town, but I'm sure some others in here can help you. IMO, the best public courses in town are Hermitage and Opryland, but they are also probably the most expensive. Old Fort in Murfreesboro was pretty good when we used to play it for high school matches. Haven't been out there in years though. Harpeth Hills is the best muni, but really hard to get a tee time recently.
My buddy and I love playing at Nashville National (https://www.nashvillenational.golf/...r_l1ml_MbxyIt4zDrA1ltY533geNxcjhoC9BMQAvD_BwE) up in Joelton. Played almost every weekend last season.
Same. Theres one out near Mt Juliet I like as well but i cant think of the bame right now. Apparently they dumped a ton of money into Nashboro Village course a few years ago, it was pretty nice when we played it last fall.
I don’t know what you mean. Sorry, I’m new to golf and picked it up last year. I suck and just play to hang out my buddy, who is way better than me.
The 82 foot long shared fence with my neighbor finally blew over in the storms the other day. We have it strapped up to our porches for now but no way it lasts through today’s storms.
The line of storms about to hit dropped some pretty nasty hail in the North Dallas area yesterday. I hope your phone is charged and you are weather alert or you obviously don't listen to Danielle Breezy
Usually courses will have a group of guys (typically retired) that have a standing game 2-5 days a week.
As somebody who has been visiting Nashville multiple times a year for the last 12 years, I just don't think there's anything left for me in that city anymore.
Tons of new restaurants. We tried Luogo and highly recommend it to anyone looking for Italian https://www.luogorestaurant.com/
That pasta looks delicious but it lacks the cheap beer, scuffed-up pool tables, and "can I get a dozen of your rotten oysters?" vibes
Same. There are some great restaurants (thank you Sean Brock) and I’ll miss the Ryman, but other than that, it will be good riddance to Tennessee.
It would be nice if Nashville would get a legitimate food hall/multi restaurant space. Just went to Miami and found better restaurants in two spots (one food hall, one food truck park with a brewery and cocktail truck) than in almost the entirety of Nashville
Don't they have one on Broadway? I know it's Broadway, but still. Some of the places in there are pretty solid
This is a hot take but other of the history of the Ryman, what do you enjoy so much about the place? I have been to a ton of concerts there and I honestly I do not get the hype. It's a good venue, but what sets it apart? Again, the history is one thing but apart from that... what is it that you enjoy so much about it?
I get it. It is very uncomfortable. I think the sound is some of the best I’ve ever heard. Plus the acts that play there. I’d rather go to a show there than any other place in town. But again, I get it.
it just really pales in comparison to some of the other places I’ve been and yeah it’s on Broadway which doesn’t help
Any of yall lose power today? Mine flickered on and off about 10 times for maybe 30 seconds to a minute each time.
I am excited about NOKO though, especially since I live in walking distance to it (old POMODORO EAST location)
Active Shooter at Covenant private school in Green Hills. 3 children dead. Really, really hope everybody in the Nashville thread is okay and not directly affected.
the food is what I mainly miss. but every medium to large sized city will allow you to get by with restaurants. and honestly, with Nashville's dwindling live music scene, it really isn't that great. Ryman is the GOAT tho
My kids go to school at St Paul and there was an initial false report that it was at our school. It sucks that we've become so jaded to school shootings that it takes one close to home to really hit emotionally. What a terrible situation.
Not shocked the East Nashville quadrant has the most hits. Hopefully we can add more after this 6 month trial https://www.nashville.gov/departmen...L1Hnqt_bE-kHO4gwaZjwKdS_2fvy4&mibextid=Zxz2cZ
Has anyone been to June yet? Any new restaurants that we need to try? We want to go out to dinner Saturday but can’t figure out where. Might just stay local and either do Velvet Taco, Bar Taco, Southern Grist, or Pelican & Pig
Tried Xiao Bao yet? Mimo and Tailor are on my short list but I'd prob try June first. Kisser is another one worth looking into, but think they are just running soft openings atm.
Yeah I originally suggested Kisser but they are only open for lunch. We are excited to try once they are fully open. Highland yards will be badass once full. I’ll look up those other ones because I haven’t heard of them.
I think Bar Taco is the most overrated place. I just don't get why anyone even likes it. Red Headed Stranger is one of my favorite restaurants and I will always recommend it.
Midtown I guess if you want that same kind of downtown feel but not be on broadway. East, 12 south, Germantown... I don't go out a ton anymore so that's basically all the places I know.
