I went directly from watching the wire on hob go to bb on Netflix (in middle of season 2). Both are excellent, supporting characters in the wire are superior thus far. I'd say that the pace of bb is a bit faster, and the camera work is superb, but in order to push the pace, bb feels a bit more compressed (forced/scripted).
The Wire I wouldn't even put Breaking Bad in my Top 5, maybe Top 10. its good, but not great, at least to me
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YECcGWN5aY That scene was 10 times better than Breaking Bad at Breaking Bad's best. And it's just another scene in The Wire.
Ha that was awful. I love the wire and prefer it slightly to breaking bad, but that scene was just awful. Is it racist to say The Wire is a little to black for me at times?
Bitch please. Breaking Bad = better cinematography + better lead acting + better cliffhangers. I only got through 3 seasons of The Wire and I don't really feel that inclined to finish it out.
If someone is entering this thread, and they haven't seen every episode of Breaking Bad/The Wire, they deserve to be spoiled. laxjoe knows what I'm talking about.
The only thing the wire has going for it is an arrested development style internet circlejerk and it being the darling of the current generation of critics. Breaking Bad is literally superior in every objective sense. It's better written. It's better acted. It's better filmed. It's just plain better than the wire. the wire is joe louis Breaking Bad is Muhammad Ali. Ali didn't get the proper credit he deserved until all of the old timers died off Breaking Bad won't get it's proper credit as the best show of all time until the internet circlejerk for the wire dies down.
So his argument is that The Wire isn't good because it isn't real? Don't see how anyone could poke a whole in that argument.
Breaking Bad suffers from the same problem that mike tyson suffers from it's just too much better than all previous shows for people to accept it. Tyson was so much better than everyone else that boxing historians began spinning wildly trying to underrate him as much as possible, just as modern critics are trying to find any reason to put a clearly inferior product of the past (the wire) above the new gold standard ( breaking bad)
how did he prove anything? he said wire fans like the wire more than other shows? wow that is very insightful. Your opinion post is literally 100% wrong. You literally could not have been more wrong if you had tried to be wrong.
I can't think of a great TV show in the past 10 years that was real. Walter White isn't real. There isn't a high school Chem teacher turned meth chef.
the main reason people like "the wire" is so that they can tell other white people about much they like "the wire" Same thing with arrested development.
Hey bricktop, stop comparing real boxers to fictional television shows Rocky is BB Apollo Creed is The Wire
Once people watch the show, most of them enjoy season 2. Pretty sure this is 95% true of members of this board. Season 2 is awesome.
I disagree with this statement because both The Wire and Arrested Development are great. And I'm a Breaking Bad fanboy.
In all seriousness.... These are the two best shows I have ever watched. I refuse to say which one is better until Breaking Bad reaches its conclusion. It just wouldn't be fair.
Nobody is saying the wire and arrested development aren't good. But comparing them to breaking bad is like comparing a 2011 Chevy Malibu to a 2011 Lamborghini Aventador. One is a good car The other is a great one.
A. Anyone who has only watched 3 seasons of The Wire is a fucking idiot and not worth listening to B. Breaking Bad is definitely in contention C. I absolutely love Sopranos but these are 1 and 2 D. Season 5 of BB will determine the winner E. Watson is a pole smoker F. Season 4 of The Wire is ridiculously overrated G. Seasons 3 and 4 of Breaking Bad are better than any season in The Wire H. Avon and Wee-Bay were amazing characters that were not used to their full potential and thus Walter White is by FAR the best character of the 2 shows I. Save your breath Omar fags
Also think a lot of people are overlooking the garbage that is season 5 of The Wire itt. When I watched the show the first time, I didn't think it was that bad. Watched the entire show again this summer, was amazing how poor the storylines in that season were.
The wire can't stand up to repeated viewings It's shoddily made and good only once during the initial viewing. it lacks the substance and polish of a truly great show like breaking bad.
