Team walking taco Team if you eat a walking taco outside some sort of carnival/fair you're white trash Team if you attend some sort carnival/fair in the first place you are probably white trash
I guess tandn's thread makes me think TMB has a more refined palette than reality. Putting chili on pasta is a terrible thing to do to both good chili and good pasta. However, we clearly have neither in this case, because Ohio. Therefore, carry on.
Chili soup you eat as a soup. as in a bowl with a spoon. Chili sauce is more of a condiment used on other things like hot dogs, or pasta This really isn't rocket surgery.
Have I ever tried cinnamon-flavored chili product on top of mushy pasta, all topped with half a bag of pre-shredded cheese? No. I'm sure it's tasty, but not something I would do to either good pasta or good chili.
I meant have you ever made it yourself with homemade ingredients. Not really a big deal, just unaware how one is able to judge something without having first hand experience
Lets just google chili then http://www.google.com/search?q=chili&rlz=1C1CHMO_enUS501US501&sugexp=chrome,mod=1&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=_QvJUJzSA8W60AHgm4HIAw&biw=1517&bih=741&sei=WAzJULnrDqXV0gHY-YCoDw Oh, chili sauce you say? Sriracha is the first reply... What is this weird poop sauce you are putting on spaghetti http://www.google.com/search?q=chili sauce&hl=en&tbo=d&rlz=1C1CHMO_enUS501US501&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=KgzJUO7UNoS60AHivoHYDg&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAA&biw=1517&bih=741
None of those pictures show a bowl of soup, and second row is a picture of chili dogs. What is your point?
I've only seen chili on noodles once in my life and I think that was at a Steak and Shake. I was like 12 but I remember thinking it wasn't bad. Chili with Fritos or crackers in it has always been the norm for me.
Because I want to neither overwhelm pasta nor dilute good chili. There is already a perfect starch compliment to chili. It's called cornbread.
I'm still surprised that marcus has never heard of chili with rice. Surely there are people other than BlazingRebel, Scorsese and myself who do that? Thought it was fairly common, tbh.
Anyone eating walking tacos with fritos instead of doritos is doing it wrong. /spenttoomuchtimeatyouthbaseballtournaments
Yeah, just white grain race topped with chili, shredded cheddar and some cayenne pepper on top. Nothing too fancy, but hearty and filling.
dont knock it till you try it... also the frozen dinner variety definitely isnt legit at all you know what goose if I ever return to cincinnati why dont we do this and fuck afterwards for the hell of it
Jesus, this thread. How on Earth can someone be a chili snob? If I never ate something because it might give me the shits, there are a lot of great things I would have never eaten. I am as scornful of Ohio as the next guy. But Skyline Chili is delicious. I've made it myself to verify this. The cocoa/cinnamon is unusual, and if you've tried it and didn't like it, that's fine. If you've never tried it, stfu until you have some basis for an opinion. Fritos and chili is also delicious. I've only tried it in the "frito pie" style, but pouring that shit in a small frito bag and eating it with a spoon sounds pretty solid to me, and excellent for a tailgate.Call it whatever you want. Rice and chili is a new one for me. But it works with gumbo, so why not chili? Put me on the willing to try list. Some very close-minded fucks ITT.
I'm going to be down in Cincy for the Bengals/Ravens game on the 30th... perhaps I should come early and goose Pelican and myself should go to Camp Washington Chili?
Fair enough. It doesn't really have the effect that you're describing, it just makes a whole new dish all together.
Perhaps you lack context. Terrible mainboarder Farva has claimed on multiple occasions the vast superiority of skyline chili to any other. Now, you want to argue that this dish is tasty....fine. No argument. De gustibus non est disputandum. However, when compared against the finest of such dishes, this one has some obvious flaws. Before you cry "snob," understand that judging the finest of examples inherently includes a certain measure of snobbery. There is a reason the rest of the country does not pair chili with pasta, nor include a disproportionately huge pile of cheese on top. Does this result in a satisfying dish? I cannot question that it does....but claiming it is the height of chili is like claiming a mustang is the height of sports cars. My personal preference for starch with chili would be a good cornbread, tortillas, or even corn chips. Lets face it - the pasta in this dish, like rice in another suggestion, is really just filler. I'd prefer the filler add some flavor, but that's just the snob in me talking. I wonder how many of you open-minded souls have truly appreciated the experience of a well-made pasta dish or even a jalapeño corn bread.
I don't think I remember Farva ever saying that Skyline was the peak of chili, he just defended it vigorously against people who always say how disgusting it is, even though almost all of them never tried it(not talking about you, obviously). As far as pasta goes, I've grown up on it, worked in two Italian restaurants, and eaten plenty myself as an adult. Skyline is just a different meal. You can't really compare it to standard dishes like those. Is it high quality? No, of course not. It's just a high fat, flavorful meal that you eat from time to time, for me usually during bad hangovers.
Does it have a pumpkin hint to it? I believe this chick from Cincy made it and I liked it. Could see it going on hot dogs and fries, nothing else. nothing.
