Interesting question. I don't think it would be a tyrell even though she's married to Tommen. Isn't the Baratheon line done with Stannis?
If you believe the prophey, Myrcella will die with Tommen before Cersei gets murked by the valoquer. I'm guessing there would be a war or compromise between the Boltons, Tyrells, Littlefinger. Maybe it could be Littlefinger's end game. Tyrells would have the best claim, but Littlefinger could figure out a way to get on the throne.
Okay so through my re-read I've come across the House of the Undying for the second time. I haven't read any theories on it yet aside from the obvious R+L=J. How I blatantly missed the connections made from GOT to COK is crazy now that I've discovered the R+L=J theory. This reread has made apparent that the book 1 book 2 combo/transition is EPIC. A thing of beauty and genius. Full geek hard-on from this reread. Is the dead corpse on the ship with bright eyes and grey lips smiling supposed to be Aemon? I'm still convinced he had a hunch/knew Jon was a Targ. Who is the beautiful women getting raped/gangbanged by the little people? and what does it mean? I'm assuming they are Children of the Forest but Dany just doesn't know what they are so they are described the way they are. George so much.
I think most thought the little people raping the beautiful woman was in reference to Cersei and Tyrion and the valonquar prophecy. I could be wrong on that though. Also, I can't remember details, but the red wedding was strongly foreshadowed as well.
Great quote from Lady Dustin describing Roose Bolton: "Roose has no feelings, you see. Those leeches that he loves so well sucked all the passions out of him years ago. He does not love, he does no hate, he does not grieve. This is a game to him, mildly diverting. Some men hunt, some hawk, some tumble dice. Roose plays with men. You and me, these Freys, Lord Manderly, his plump new wife, even his bastard, we are but his playthings."
Reading about Stannis' men freezing outside Winterfell reminds me of the Nazi's freezing at Stalingrad.
Finally finished book 5 after what seemed like a year. Can't wait for so many things. All the story lines are in great spots, I just hope he doesn't setup the next book so we only see 1 side of things. If Jon/Daenerys aren't immediate chapters I'm going to flip.
Yep. I'd imagine the first Wall POV will be Melissandre hopefully internally debating the idea of: Spoiler Reincarnating Jon
Not necessarily a lie but over optimistic timelines etc... ADWD was supposed to come out a year after AFFC, he pushed that and like 3 other release dates back until it finally came out 6 years later.
I'd like to think he will be more focused to finish now that the series has gained so much popularity.
IIRC, he wanted to have Jorah be The Lord of Bear Island, so he took the Black to help restore it to its former glory.
So Jorah sold slaves and Stark put a bounty on his head and somehow his niece becomes a Stannis loyalist and guard for Asha Greyjoy.
Yeah I just looked it all up. It is sad how much time I spend researching this bullshit. The "hearsay" topics in the ASOIF forums are mind blowing if you feel like wasting 6 hours.
I think there are two female Mormonts who fought with Robb. The daughter has now joined up with Stannis and the mother (Jorah's sister?) was sent by Robb to bring a message to Howland Reed before the Red Wedding and we haven't heard from her since.
I was thinking the other night why I like GoT so much and came to this conclusion. It's because unlike other fantasy like LOTR, Harry Potter, Dragons of the Delatra, Eragon etc, it's not peace that is being upset by some extreme, evil that some humble, modest, chosen person must step up to the occasion. It's just a chunk of history, it seems like if you read novels on the 20 years previous to when GoT takes place it'd be just as good. There also isn't some protagonist that we are forced to align with (I guess you can make the argument that Jon Snow is), we can choose to hate Dany and love Cersie or vice versa. There is no choice, for other fantasy if you think Harry is a little bitch for constantly complaining about putting other people in danger (It's completely true) the you lose out on the enjoyment. In GoT it's almost encouraged and makes it that much better.
Agreed. Although coming from someone who watched all the show before I started the books, Cersei is a lot better character in the books. I may not root for her to succeed, but I have always enjoyed her POVs.
It's not crazy to like Cersei, I personally don't but she cares first and foremost about her children and will do anything to protect them.
Yes, but they both defy their house. Tyrion is obviously one of the best characters, but the two most powerful members of his family hate him. (Tywin and Cersei) Jaime didn't become endearing until his hand was chopped off and he lost his "Kingslayer" persona. I didn't really start to root for Jaime personally until midway through Storm of Swords and him and Brienne being to develop their relationship. His POV ended up being one of my favorites. Again, I think all the Lannisters are great characters, I have just never found myself rooting for them as a house in the fight for the Iron Throne. Hell, I did a little fist pump when Varys killed Kevan.
i didn't like it when kevan was killed. he was one of the "good" lannisters and he was keeping cersei in check. he was in the middle of undoing all of her mistakes. he wasn't ambitious and was only in power because he felt it was his duty, but he got caught in the game of thrones
I guess you're right. I liked it because Varys is one of my favorite characters and it was a real power move.
I like the theory above but I have read the Azor Ahai theory in a different way. That Jon will be reincarnated as Azor Ahai amongst Salt( The Greyjoys) and Smoke(The Targaryen reclaimers).
Interdasting that Young Griff is Prince Rhaegar's son, who was presumed dead. Reading a "Reek" chapter right now, not sure how I feel how shitty Theon is getting treated, but I guess his ass deserves it.
Theon deserved something, but he got far more than he deserved. All of the Bolton's will surely die gruesome deaths. GRRM usually makes you really hate someone, keeps them around for a while just to make you hate them even more, and then kills them off in glorious fashion.
