Infuser doesn't seem to be a bad option based on, size/price & the fact that it doesn't' have a built-in grinder, as it isn't needed... I have the Virtuoso+, and a hand grinder capable of grinding for espresso. Maybe I'll start there, unless someone else steers me clear
I’m keeping the Infuser until it breaks or I want something really nice. Maybe check the size of your scale? I think you have a fancy one? I bought the Acaia Lunar specifically so it would fit on my Infuser platform. Something too much bigger wouldn’t fit.
I have a Acaia Pearl S but also a Hario scale that should fit on the platform... until I upgrade to the Lunar
Damn how much shit do you have? Imagine you’ll eventually prefer a steam wand edit: just in case you change your mind https://flairespresso.com/flair-58-first-look/
Happy wife, happy life… She wanted the frothing thing. it gets used maybe 10 times a year, and spends the rest of the time up in a cabinet. Not a purchase I had anything to do with. I agree, a frothing wand is probably the most appealing thing getting an espresso machine
I'm waiting for Odyssey to get their shit together but I'm looking to get one and sell off my Lelit Bianca after
my gf has nespresso virtuoso machine she barely uses. So when I’m there it’s used. I forgot a had a frother and took it over. Biggest issue is it’s almost like whipped cream. So much foam. Have to greatly reduce how long I froth.
Might be making this purchase soon. Folks are coming in town and the pour over gets cumbersome I assume this is the best automatic coffee maker out there (not including espresso in that)?
Literally why I bought mine. Trying to teach my dad how to make the pour over was rough. He refuses to measure things and just eyeballs it or grabs a spoon and goes to town. Fine, I guess…but if you’re doing that I’ll just give you the automatic drip experience.
Cleaned out my Baratza V+ this morning, and noticed a crack in the plastic ring, holding the burr in place. $5 part ordered & will be back good as new in a few days. Love their service/parts department.
Accidentally left my Moka pot on stovetop, on low for an hour or so… had a good 20+ year run. Love that the new Venus model is stainless, but will miss my classic aluminum octagon
Just ordered https://littlewaves.coffee/products/edwin-enrique-norena-juice-box-processing-set-colombia
I’ve been impressed every time I’ve ordered from them when they roast his beans, I’m sure these will be great too.
I really like their light and bright sub. I’ve been doing that, some of their specialties, and random buys from other places for a while now. They don’t roast as light as a Botz if that’s what you’re looking for. Their house espresso roast Jaguar is good, it has a good bit of acidity for an espresso roast. The beans above won’t be in a sub though. They release speciality stuff from a few different growers. Like these: https://littlewaves.coffee/collecti...edwin-enrique-norena-pink-bourbon-mz-colombia https://littlewaves.coffee/products...-bourbon-scoby-kombucha-fermentation-colombia They are a local roaster for me and my favorite coffee shop. They are also minority owned, mostly employ Latina women, and seem like good people.
Holy Illegal Beans .. speaking of illegal beans, B&W released some beans aged in stout barrels.. This set of 4 x 100g beans looks pretty solid - I had a sample of the Abu Gesha and it was pretty solid. https://www.blackwhiteroasters.com/products/2024-competition-coffee-box
Probably got too much coffee right now but need to follow these guys. They are close to me too, and I go to Bond Bros a good bit.
Co-ferments with add-ons like fruit or extended ferments. I feel there's a window where the taste is good but it gets overwhelming fast, almost to the point of some of them tasting like rotten juice b
Ok, boomer. Spoiler jk. They’re the only roster I’ve ever bought something like that from and they seem to do it right, but I can see how that could happen. From what I’ve read, Edwin Norena knows what news he’s doing in that department though.
My fuckin lucky day! From my cousins that have way too much money. I texted him about some beans today and this is what he sent back. They were just going to throw this thing out. Not sure what the repair cost is but I scooped it up with the quickness. 2nd boiler is for the steam wand which I don’t use anyway.
Holy Cow.. what a score! ECMs are tanks. E61s are very serviceable (even by yourself for the most part) and parts are readily available. I'd check home-barista for threads on ECM Synchronikas and manuals. Depending on the current condition, you may be able to get some pointers if it needs specific repairs or if you need to find a local tech who can service E61 machines (vs. sending it in to one of the bigger dealers like Clive Coffee, 1st line or Whole latte love). https://wiki.wholelattelove.com/ECM_Synchronika/diagrams_and_manuals https://support.clivecoffee.com/en/ecm-synchronika-user-manual https://wiki.wholelattelove.com/ECM_Synchronika/troubleshooting I was about to order some parts from 1st Line (vacuum valve needs replacement it seems) and just swap it out myself.
Yeah. I’ll get someone to look at it, but if it’s an expensive repair I’ll be fine without steam and adding a flow control.
l Adding Flow control is pretty straight forward tbh. Well enjoy the world of consistent shots and temp stability!
Fellow makes cool stuff, not in the market for a drip machine but looks nerdy and cool https://fellowproducts.com/products/aiden-precision-coffee-maker
I really liked their latest offering in the light and bright sub. Seems like pretty decent prices too if you order a decent amount each month
Priced right as well... if it produces a good cup, might be a great value proposition, in lieu of Ratio/Mochamaster
Switch folks - does the bottom get a little gunky like the clever dripper? I've been using that again, but that little residual water that stays in the bottom after washing sort of grosses me out
Nothing yet, do rinse it out with leftover brew water and leave the switch open. Think I’ve lightly cleaned it occasionally
I don't know if anyone grabbed the recent Fellow Drop (April Ethiopia Regessa) but pretty solid so far.. Still a little grassy (or green-y) up front but nice and jammy overall, on espresso. It'll probably open up with a bit more age on it.
Yeah agree with this. Rinse it out every time, wash it occasionally. Push the plunger to get the rest of the water out and place face up to dry
Bold Bean doing their own "drops" now... will probably grab something from Fellow from time to time, but mostly just supporting local.
