This is the worst possible news. I kind of had a feeling though since they didn't even seem close to start filming.
Dumbest decision ever. It's going to be 4 years between The Batman 1 & 2 - good way to murder your momentum, guys.
Writers and actors strike doesn't occur a vacuum. Anything that wasn't already filming is getting pushed back.
Also Reeves is a notoriously slow writer and he's not going to shoot until he's satisfied. WB probably hopes they have another Dune 2/TDK (huge box office sequel after solid first outing) on their hands, so they'll wait to get it right.
It sucks but I would much rather it be released late than rushed out and we end up with Marvel and DC have been putting out lately.
They really should just let Reeves cook and not try to cross over with other DC properties. This looks awesome.
Also make sure the TV shows aren’t required viewing for the movies, but at the same time add depth to them.
Whatever plans Gunn has for Batman (the DCU's Bat family movie) needs to be on hold until Reeves' trilogy is finished. Flesh out the rest of the DCU in the meantime. We don't need two competing Batman movies.
Kingdom Come was about old Superman dealing with a world full of young jerk heroes. I bet this is the opposite. A young Supes dealing with established jerk heroes, showing the world a better way
im on record as Superman being a boring concept, but this could be interesting, especially starting with a lantern as a counterpoint
I always thought the constant temptation for Superman to use his powers for evil was an interesting angle. Like the plot of Injustice 1
The CW has literally made two non boring Superman shows now. WB should easily be able to do a good Superman movie with its resources
Skylar Gisondo as Jimmy Olson is as perfect of a casting as you can get tbh But I’m really excited about Hoult as Lex and NoHo Hank as Metamorpho
