Stranded in Denver tonight, going to watch the Warriors game. I'm way out by the airport but figure I may as well head downtown tonight for the Dubs game. Arkadin recommended Euclid Hall, so I think that's my plan. Thoughts? What are you jerks doing tonight?
I've never been to Euclid Hall but that area (Larimer Square) has good stuff. I'll be watching the Rockies game on my couch.
Euclid Hall is really good. They had Pliny the Elder on tap last night. I'd rather murder you than watch an NBA game. Enjoy.
Yeah, Euclid is solid. Nallen's Pub is also right around the corner if you like no-frills drinkers' bars. They pour the best pints of Guinness in town. But if amazing isn't your thing, there's a ton of less amazing alternatives in that area as well.
Euclid already confirmed they'll put the game on for me. I'm eating cheese curds for the next 4 hours.
Just got offered a position in Denver. Any Denver guys here that would be willing to answer a few questions?
Surprisingly, it's still open. I had a couple coworkers invite me out to Toby Keith's. I sketched off and didn't attend
it's all fun and games until you actually get a DUI for being under the influence and they treat it exactly the same as booze - suspension of license, interlock device (lol), classes, fines, probation etc
What the hell is going on in Denver the week of May 18-22? Tried to book a hotel for work & every Hilton property was sold out to have a room guaranteed when these inconveniences happen
Soon to be Baker resident. I think we need an official Denver thread. The other one got lost with the re-boot.
Wife and I bought over in Berkeley a year ago. The whole process was a nightmare. We had put in probably 20 offers before getting our place. People/investors were coming in like $50k over list in cash, and everything was a multiple offer situation. But we got a good place, we are happy, and it's not much more than the rent we were paying on our place in Wash Park. ' Problem is rent is also getting absurd, which makes it tough to save enough for any type of downpayment on a home.
Yeah, one thing I noticed in this area is that rent is almost 100% driven by neighborhood. An apartment about the same size as mine if I were in Boulder's city limits was about 50% more.
Yeah, I won't be leaving the house I got in Cap Hill anytime soon. Probably the best situation one could ask for a 1st time rental in Denver. Anytime I think about housing prices or rent going I thank lord baby jeebus that I am in Big 4 IT Consulting. Our salaries are very competitive.
what is your degree in? Multiple teams in the office are hiring. Apparently my new office is nicer than both Facebook's and Google's (obviously google's new spot is goign to be ( . ) ( . )
Still in college, going to be a senior this fall. Exercise science with business minor, going into hospital admin. Pretty unrelated, just want to move to Denver, not set on what I want to do though
Can't get my italian passport anytime soon Actually have a phone interview for a sales position in Denver coming up so hopefully that goes well
Depends what team you are on and what client you are staffed on. Me personally, I will travel 1 week a month for the next 4 months and then won't travel for the remainder of the year. I have two guys on my team that travel weekly because of the client culture. Send me a pm and we can talk in private. I will fill you in on what teams we have here and what they do.
Yeah really seems like the housing market and rental market are nuts. We're thankful that we will be selling our condo in Atlanta and making a substantial gain on it thanks to getting it as a foreclosure almost three years ago. So we should have a nice chunk of change stashed away while we begin our hunt for a house. From everything I've heard we are preparing for at least a one year search before being able to find something. Place we will be renting is a 2 BR/2 BA and over 1000 sq feet and we're getting it at less than $2k/month, which I considered a pretty good victory. Should only cost us a bit more than our current situation in Atlanta but our salaries will also be going up a little bit in Denver to help. Big 4, eh? I'm getting out of Big 4 Audit to come out there. I'm over it. Might be looking at a possible job in consulting, but not really IT.

Seems to be the same response all across the board from everyone I've talked to who left audit. I see no purpose in most of these audits I'm doing. And I'm working on private companies so it makes it even more worthless.
