I played command and conquer red alert with a buddy over TCP/IP in like 1997/1998. Age of Empires 2 on Microsoft zone.com was my first foray into true multiplayer against randoms.
i played a game called America's Army when i was probably 12 or 13. otherwise, i don't recall playing online. i was mostly a console gamer growing up so it wasn't really until xbox live came out. we also had Age of Empires but i think my brother may have been the only one to play online. funny enough, i was one of the first few members of the "Check Six" (x6) clan in AA. in googling it later, it seemed like it became a pretty large gaming org. I don't know for certain if it was an imitation or the true genuine origin but i think it was given that it had a website and played on TWL and other competitive ladders.
Probably 5th to 6th grade when I started playing RuneScape online, but: A. The internet was so new my parents weren't (And still aren't) up to date about what a cesspool parts of the internet can be. B. Maybe it's just reminiscing, I don't remember the internet being quite the level of cesspool it is now.
https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/6437276455 i can't remember a game like this. i did 145k damage and my awesome bounty did 120k damage and we still lost. they had tanky sven + heals from undying and warlock + mek/ice armor on lich + two hearts and they just never fucking died once they grouped. so many tombstones and warlock monsters and we couldn't kill their blob enough times. i had never seen damage like that from teammates, especially where one wasn't a zeus. i guess i needed a skadi but idk what to get rid of, also felt like i needed the x2 daedaluses to try and kill them when they were low. i just now realized lesh did 98k damage too. holy hell.
Oh man I forgot about that game. Tom Clancy had a game where you would spawn in trenches with a bunker with sniper rifles and you’d shoot across the gap at the other team. That was a fun game for its time.
Whoa… Am I reading this as true sight is no longer passive with gem? GEM OF TRUE SIGHT Now has an active. Gives True Sight over a 300 AoE area within 300 range for 4 seconds. 12s CD (Note: Does not grant vision on the area, just vision of invisible units/wards) No longer reveals invisibility when dropped.
interesting i know there was a request to allow the gem to give true sight on cliffs for an active (rather than drop it at the base) but the wording here makes it sound like the gem only works ever 12s.
thoughts as i go through the patch notes: - new hero seems super op with abilities. guessing the game will be unplayable until it's patched. - bringing back cooldown reduction stacking (though diminished) is very good. so dumb to avoid certain neutrals or blink upgrades because you have octarine or whatever - revenant's brooch is going to be an awesome item for heroes that build witch blade. pierces evasion and can attack through ghost sceptor... - boots of bearing seem very strong with the movement aura aoe passive. i would think this is a must-buy for all pro supports - new bloodstone seems terrible? worse item buildup and active is far more situational? i don't get it - orchid seems like an agi hero/item now. it was already leaning that way recently with WK, Naga, Slark, etc. buying it but it has great buildup now for agi. - the eblade change of taking 1.5x of your primary attribute to 1.5x of their primary attribute is massive. again, no longer an int item necessarily imo - the no longer slowing enemy on nullifier seems like a tough nerf to an item that isn't popular. going to be like dooming the wrong target and having the enemy just run away from you - the blink changes all suck. i can't believe they didn't touch the strength one but changed the others. agi one especially looks bad. - deso change will have low mmr teams all building desos for +2 damage/kill - even after the nerf, the batrider shard was really fun and really strong. the new one that just works during lasso is dumb. looks like you have the talents to replace it but the old talents were already good imo - dazzle aghs is tough to farm in real games but that's so op for supporting a carry. refreshed bkb, satantic, etc. - lina now only getting fiery soul charges when spells attack enemies seems like a huge nerf. hero is so slow. - necro ult change is insane for turbo. the death timer never went above 100 anyways but you can easily get 10 ult kills... wow - i cannot believe they didn't change OD + hammer at all - i don't think i mind the techies changes. the new sticky bomb spell seems good. - new tinker shard seems broken. now has defenses vs someone jumping on them. - underlord ult is interesting. new aghs seems entirely dumb, though. - doesn't matter at all for turbo but i wonder if the zeus change will make zeus viable as a support. -100% movement speed debuff as a basic ability is strong. - most changes seem fairly minor, which is surprising after such a long delay for a new patch. spirit breaker and qop in particular seem like they'll still be really good.
Support weaver catches a moderate nerf. Three attacks to kill bugs for the first two levels of the spell is huge. Plus longer CD on shukuchi.
watching topson stream and he's playing techies mid the sticky bomb spell is awesome. easy cancel on all regen, basically.
turns out the batrider shard doesn't just work when you are lassoing people but instead just works all the time. people are rushing manta + shard and just insta killing everyone. its hilariously broken.
AM can now use diffusal and it stacks. I remember starting and buying multiple Orbs/UAMs and everyone called me a noob.
Win rate went down though. Weird. Saw the clip, hilarious. I don’t understand why undying went +7% win rate
probably, but i don't know for certainty. generally speaking, i still don't think its useful to get more than 2 of those max (with few exceptions; sky, naga, maybe drow) because you can farm bigger items so much more quickly. i was building two + wand + bottle on some mid heroes and it felt too much
They’ve always been good early game items but obviously gold inefficient as the game went on. Seems like an easy choice to farm up some early stats and get a free upgrade mid game.
Do you think turbo should be 3 on 3 with a smaller map? Sometimes I wonder if they’ll make a smaller/fast mode to make it Steam Deck friendly, but idk Dota devs don’t seem to care about any of that integration stuff
BrickTamland i had been dealing with some display issues on my laptop but tonight was sort of the kick in the bucket where it's basically dead and i can't dota anymore the horizontal bars at the top and bottom of the screen (can't see bottom of map or 3 backpack items, can't see buybacks and ults) had existed for a while but the "ghost image" thing had only happened a few times and refreshed on itself after a second or two. tonight i had these ghost images (new hero + spell light + spell description) for a few minutes at the start: and it just got worse (was on screen for 10 minutes) and worse (near end of game) and worse (closed out of game but still seeing dota things) rip my dota career. i never recalibrated so i died a herald.
Nigma just ran a position 3 diffusal AM in lower bracket finals. and won. (Boom had medusa carry, but still)
topson's stream is so chill he plays a lot of weird heroes with different builds (usually burst builds) so it's different from the ordinary streams. he's in the SEA region so again different than most popular streams. and he's not putting on a show for youtube viewers, he just chills and plays and sometimes talks about his in-game thoughts.
I know nobody plays right now and thread is dead but Major going on right now. South America has 2 of top 6?? NA in winners bracket finals?? EG knocked out before tournament. Wtf is happening. also rumor is TI in Singapore this year.
