Money talks in situations like this. And plus fuck Dan Snyder.
Could also make a lot of money by all the fans having to buy new attire
Since Snyder took over the most fitting name is the Washington Generals.
Vincent dropping logic bombs, making me question everything.
Read yesterday that investment firms with $600b in assets are pushing Nike, FedEx, and Pepsi to force the Redskins to change the name or to cut ties with them. That's where the pressure is coming from.
this isn't showing up for me. what is/was it?
Washington Natives. Very simple.
Can't wait to go see the 'Skins at UPS Field this fall
I can honestly see them going to the Skins.
I am wondering if Dan Snyder will try and rename it to something even more offensive.
their new logo
I wish they’d really just give their whole fanbase a stroke and go with Washington Pride
Probably plenty of DC Defenders stuff leftover.
This is in the replies, not the worst thing I've seen
That’s already the name of the Orlando women’s soccer team.
It’s pretty obvious this franchise has no issues with appropriating
There’s a New York Rangers and Texas Rangers. Let’s get Pride done. Or make them the Cobras and give them Cobra Kai-type uniforms.
Change it, it's overdue
Easy answer is the Washington Sentinels.
Just disband that abortion of a franchise.
Braves and Indians next
Atlanta should become the Atlanta Barves.
Same with the KC Chiefs and the Florida State Seminoles
FSU has very close ties with the Seminole tribe
Nah we Gucci. We have a wonderful relationship with the Seminole tribe of Florida and consult them on everything brand-related.
Yeah, don't they have permission/sponsorship to use the name?
I would also think Braves would be okay because the name doesn't have a demeaning tone to it.
i’m for changing this one too because fuck the actual texas rangers
white people need to quit doing the fucking chop too
Texas Tech should quit doing the guns up as it promotes gun violence
That one's pretty good.
So does the Central Michigan Chippewas and their tribe. Only two schools with those nicknames any longer in NCAA.
you can take my finger guns from my cold dead hands
Anyone asking FSU to change their name is uneducated on the subject. The Seminole tribe opposed a name change last time it came up people asking for it to be changed. The tribe also approved Osceola and the tribe also designs what he wears on the field
Here is some background on the relationship between FSU and the Seminole tribe. It wouldn't surprise me at all if there are some changes, however I doubt anything happens to the name as long as the official Seminole tribe is on board.
Can’t wait till we start renaming cities.
The Seminole Nation of Oklahoma doesn't like FSU using the name fwiw
Some random guy saying what’s next everyone named John has to change their name because that’s what they call a prostitutes client?
Columbia SC us henceforth known as “Clowneyville”
Obviously one person supporting it doesn’t mean the whole group does, but:
“Subsequently, Chief Jerry Haney of the Seminole Tribe of Oklahoma also publicly stated his support.”
They did a written endorsement of FSU using the name in 2005
Wish they’d said something sooner.
I get Braves is bad from a Native American appropriation standpoint but it’s a cool mascot name as far as being an admirable quality
This is dope
As long as there’s a memorial for Vincent Smith’s helmet I’m down.
