I bet The Farewell def has them as well. Haven't seen it, but am guessing it's more poignant than "feel good." I'll watch this soon with wife.
I watched Inside Out once when I was hungover 6 or so years ago, and it tore me apart. Haven't revisited it since but I'd recommend it if you're looking for "feels" movies.
Watched Sound of Metal last night. I’m a sucker for movies that focus on individuals with disabilities/delays; I really enjoyed Ahmed’s performance in it.
I think Riz should win best actor (although I haven’t seen Chadwick’s movie yet). He and Gyllenhal got jobbed for Nightcrawler
Nobody was great Unhinged was... not great. I actually stuck it out and watched the whole thing but damn.
What're your top 4-5 movies from the 2010s? My top 4 movies of the 2010s in no order: Whiplash Rush 1917 Peanut Butter Falcon If I had to do a 5th movie, I'd probably pick Rudderless (which is now on Prime btw), because I've willingly watched it about 10x. I think there are very few people who'd like it as much as me, so that's why I kept my list to a top 4. If you're willing to answer, here's a list of strong movies of the decade to help you remember. Who has seen the new David Bowie biopic? This trailer has under 3K views? Probably bad, and doubt I'll watch but still, only 2.5K views?
I just bought The Cremator and am looking forward to its contents. Thanks. Also just picked up the Criterion Bergman and Felini box sets, so I’ll have some stuff I’ve never watched to burn through. I’m still pissed I missed out on the Kurosawa collection and the asking price these days is $1k+
I feel like every few years the story that Tommy Lee Jones accosted Jim Carrey at a restaurant and said “I can’t sanction your buffoonery” makes the rounds but early 90s Tommy Lee Jones was an absolute buffoon in terms of chewing scenery. He was bonkers in JFK, Under Siege, Natural Born Killers and most importantly, Batman Forever (the movie he was peeved with Carrey over). The Fugitive was the only grounded performance in that time period and I’m still not sure it was Oscar worthy.
