The Card Counter was a really good movie. Super dark but Oscar Issac is amazing as always. Not sure if you have to love poker like I do to enjoy, but it is one of the better 2021 movies that I have seen.
Was finally able to watch CODA last night via a close friend's AppleTV account and really enjoyed it; I appreciated seeing the recommendations here and have already recommended it to a few other friends today. Now looking for something else to watch tonight...
For Christmas, my kids got me one of those Top100 Movie posters like this We take turns picking a movie and then scratch off the corresponding box on the poster. Last night Mrs. Celemo chose Seven. Kendall (being a basic bitch and loving True Crime podcasts) absolutely loved this movie. As soon as she saw Gwyneth on screen, she was all " Oh she's gonna die"
some of the movies we pre-scratched off like Avengers and Star Wars because we've seen them all a million times. Some of them we're gonna have to wait a while. I'm not letting Meatball watch American Psycho or American History X until he's a little bit older. So far we've done Shawshank and Seven. Kendall picks next
Finally got around to seeing Sound of Metal last night, thought it was pretty good, too, althought a bit of a downer compared to CODA
This is my, not comprehensive at all/first 10 that came to mind top 10 feel good movies. (No seasonal/Christmas flicks allowed) 1. Remember the Titans 2. McFarland USA 3. Peanut Butter Falcon 4. Real Steel 5. Hunt for the Wilderpeople 6. Palm Springs 7. Big Fish 8. Iron Will 9. Sing Street 10. Eddie the Eagle It's funny, because this is contextual... FE, Big Fish and Hunt for the Wilderpeople are definitely better movies than Real Steel, but within the context of this list, I went with Real Steel ahead. Also, I kind of hate rom coms, so that's why none of those made the top 10.
this past weekend it was the kids turn to pick Kendall chose Kill Bill Meatball picks next since he chose a movie he really wanted to see but it wasn't on the poster
Watched Songbird on a flight home yesterday. Thought it was pretty bad tbh. I can see how some could be entertained by it, because it has Michael Bay production, but the movie, imo, was dog shit. Do not recommend. Spoiler: Movie trailer
And I saw this last night and it was pretty dumb but still somewhat entertaining, too. It's a little easier to handle the ridiculousness if you go in with low expectations and the understanding that it's based on/the source material is a video game.
I've been eyeballing Wilderpeople as a possible selection for mrs constant and I some evening soon. Glad to see the endorsement.
It took me 24 years to realize that the old man in Saving Private Ryan is actually an old man actor rather than Matt Damon wearing old man makeup.
Assumed it was going to be terrible - fully enjoyed and I feel like I missed a lot of the video game references that would make it funnier.
