I don't understand the Kelly or Petrino fetishes any longer, it's not 5 years ago. Life has moved on.
Back Post New Thread I'm going to catch H*ll but.... JLWebbFirst Team First I will admit I was happy with the Gus Malzahn hire and was hoping he would be our long time HC. I felt he was doing a good job building a talented team but have been very unhappy with the recruiting, depth, style and development of QB's. I think this may end up being his undoing. The defense has progressed as he's been here. But the play calling and in game adjustments and have not been good. I don't know if that would be different if we had been playing DT QB offense or not. But it certainly has had a lot to be desired with pocket passers. Now to Saturday. Maybe the worst loss in recent history except the National Champ game. What bothers me is how similar those losses are which does show a lack of progression. Now in a way, this loss is meaningless as far as playoff scenario goes. We would have to win out and win SEC to get in Playoff regardless. So our Playoff chances are still in front of us. Simple. Win out and we are in. If that happens, all is good. Obviously almost everyone believes this is impossible. As much as a SP I can be, I am even falling into this crowd now. I am hoping we do win out and this season ends magically and Auburnation is happy to be on top. Now, this where I am changing my attitude. If we do lose to our rivals for 3rd straight year and easily could've been 4 without 2 miracle endings in 2013, we will end up 9-4 and possibly the now usual 8-5. If this scenario happens again, it's time to move on from Groundhog Day Gus regime. We all know the definition of insanity..... I'm hoping for miracles but I'm afraid this may the end of the road for the Gus Bus
Not from the Bunker, but NSIAP I really like the idea of AU highering Evans to be the HC while empowering him to higher the best coordinators in the game.
The only thing he's wrong about is that our season doesn't look bad... it does. The rest is pretty accurate it's a hypothetical of us winning out... nothing more
correct. but the rest of the hypothetical doesn't work since they have 4 conference losses. Someone from LSU, Kentucky or A&M could write the same hypothetical and results would be the same - SECCG + Be in the conversation for playoffs and they wouldn't be wrong. Just not sure what you're talking shit about with that post. Marshall has said some bumfuck retarded stuff over the years but stating a hypothetical situation where we make the playoffs isn't one of them. Didn't see him say anything about "I think this may happen if we can figure out ____" even stating that he believes it's a good possibility just that it's statistically possible and our season isn't "over" yet.
no shit. several people can. I don't see what the "never change Auburn" comment comes from. there are plenty of AU online posts/articles to talk shit about. That just isn't one of them
“Guys we just blew a 20-point lead against a team that lost to Troy at home, but don’t be surprised if we make the playoff!” Yeah, that’s worth the criticism.
Auburn football successfully DENNIS systems its fans every year and we’ve clearly reached the “inspire hope” stage.
I can’t get over this decision to dress Aubie up as a Trojan. I would’ve loved to been in the locker room when the decision was made. “Alright, we’re up by 20 at the half, only an idiot could blow this lead. Let’s kick them while they’re down and dress Aubie up like the Troy mascot”. Talk about your alltime backfires.
Some hypotheticals are more deluded than others. To the point theyre not worth the ink. Auburn making the College Football Playoff with 2-losses is one example.
If he said “don’t be surprised if we make the playoff” or anything even close this post wouldn’t be a pathetic attempt at a burn
Auburn journalist lays out a factually accurate hypothetical scenario where Auburn still makes the playoffs and publishes on Auburn fan website. Lake of fire for him! I hate that turkey neck as much anyone but can you find something better to have fun with?
It's factually accurate in the same way that it's factually accurate that Carrie Underwood could knock on my door tomorrow, unzip my pants and give me a 20-minute blowjob. Possibility and probability aren't intrinsically connected.
We usually let our bag man handle that but he has been MIA since the FBI butt raped one of our bball alumni publicly. We're hoping he shows back up in time for the coaching search.
Don't post uninteresting posts in this thread. We're looking for tin foil hatters, not stuff you and your butt buddies want to nit-pick from a politicized standpoint. Thanks in advance.

(original post) Rumor mill had it that this level of control is what Kirby demanded when he interviewed in 2012.... and why he quickly was shown the door. Do you know if that is really what happened?? I know that is not really what happened. He wanted the job badly. He was not "quickly shown the door." He had a long and extensive interview. He wasn't offered it because they liked Malzahn better. It's a bit premature to say Smart would have been a great hire. To date, he hasn't equaled what Gus did in his first two seasons at Auburn. Having a good season and bulding a program are different things. He still has it to do.
Gus went 8-5 in his second season so not sure why he felt it strengthened his argument to include it.
PhillipMarshall 42277 posts 15 hours agoVIP I promise you Gus is trying as hard as he can to win. He thought - and still thinks - this could be a very good team. I have certainly been critical of what happened Saturday, but I think it's a real stretch to just assume because of one really bad half that the whole program has gone to hell. I understand disappointment and frustration, but I don't really understand that. Clemson lost to a significantly worse team than Auburn did. So did Washington. So did Washington State, for that matter. I understand none of them blew a 20-point lead, but a loss is a loss. If you're a player, you pout about it Saturday, go back to work Sunday and get ready for the next one. Again, Auburn scored 144 points the previous three weeks. It's pretty clear nothing was amiss then. They beat Mississippi State 49-10, and Mississippi State isn't bad. They clearly were better than LSU a few weeks ago. Mark an old man's words: Ole Miss will beat LSU or come very close to doing it Saturday in Oxford.
