PMarsh: Lets not talk about how Auburn should have lost those games in 2013 Lets do talk about Auburn should have won all the games it lost and lets judge Gus as if they were wins
Wonder how his season predictions are working out... As football season nears, the time for talk is almost done. It’s not even six weeks until Auburn takes the field against Georgia Southern at Jordan-Hare Stadium. With preseason camp days away, it’s time to look into my not-so-trusty crystal ball and see what it tells me the future holds at Auburn and elsewhere. Here we go: -- Auburn will win at least 10 games, maybe more. -- Even with Montravius Adams and Carl Lawson gone, Auburn’s defensive line will be as good or better than last season. -- Darrell Williams will blossom into a star at linebacker. -- Tre’ Williams, Deshaun Davis and Darrell Williams will be as good as any linebacker trio in the SEC. -- TD Moultry will be one of the nation’s top freshmen. -- Safety Tray Matthews will live up to the promise that made him one of the nation’s top recruits out of high school. -- Kamryn Pettway will have a monstrous year at running back. -- Braden Smith will bulldoze SEC defensive linemen again and then will go play for a long time in the NFL. -- Jarrett Stidham will be Auburn’s starting quarterback and will have an outstanding year, but at some point during the season there will be a game in which folks will be very glad that Sean White is still around. -- For the first time in a long time, numerous Auburn wide receivers will have big moments as Stidham spreads the ball around in Chip Lindsey’s offense. -- Eli Stove will have more big moments than any of them. -- Ole Miss will have a better than expected season, and Matt Luke will be named permanent head coach. -- The NCAA will bring the hammer down on Ole Miss, and this will be the Rebels’ last chance for a long time to have a good season. -- Kentucky will be the surprise team in the SEC East and might even win it. -- Auburn will win a close game at Clemson. - Alabama will beat Florida State in the season-opener in Atlanta, and it won’t be close. That will spark talk of Alabama being unbeatable. -- Alabama, with so many new starters on defense, will be beatable and will lose at least two SEC games. -- Pundits, still feeling the effects of SEC fatigue, will declare that Alabama’s losses mean the SEC stinks. -- As it was so often in the Tommy Tuberville regime, Auburn’s game against LSU at Tiger Stadium will be the difference in making it to Atlanta or not. Who will win? My crystal ball is murky. -- Mississippi State will have a losing record for the second consecutive season. -- Texas A&M won’t win enough to save Kevin Sumlin’s job. -- Jim Harbaugh and Michigan will not win the Big Ten championship. What else is new? In seven seasons as a coach at Power 5 schools, he hasn’t won anything yet. -- Georgia will tank again in Kirby Smart’s second season. Unfortunately for him, there is no place on the scoreboard for recruiting rankings. -- Butch Jones might say Tennessee is champion of something, but it won’t be of the SEC East. His hold on his job will be precarious. -- Like most graduate transfer quarterbacks, Malik Zaire won’t be the savior at Florida and everybody will wonder what all the fuss was about. -- Georgia will win at Notre Dame and everybody will go nuts, forgetting that Notre Dame is coming off a 4-8 season and isn’t very good. -- Florida will beat Michigan and everybody will go nuts, forgetting that Michigan lost 10 starters on defense and that Brady Hoke is the only coach since Lloyd Carr to lose fewer than three games in a season there. -- In the wake of Hugh Freeze’s downfall, there will be a rash of Freedom of Information requests for phone records. -- The few college football coaches who didn’t have burner phones will get them now. Actually, they probably went and got them the day they heard what had happened to Freeze. No, that doesn’t mean they all do what Freeze did. It just means they don’t want people snooping around their phone bills. -- LSU running back Derrius Guice will rush for more than 2,000 yards. -- Missouri will be the most improved team in the SEC and will be very dangerous at home for anybody, including Auburn. -- Kansas State will win the Big 12 championship and Bill Snyder will retire. If his son doesn’t get the job he’ll be really angry. -- In his seventh season with the Carolina Panthers, Cam Newton will silence his doubters. -- When the season is over, someone, somewhere will revel in reminding me of the predictions I get wrong. #14

Back Post New Thread Iron Bowl talk already starting TigerTodd1990All-American Was at grocery tonight chatting with a lady wearing AU gear while waiting to checkout. Some dude (50ish) overhears the conversation and pipes up how he was disappointed we lost last week because he was hoping for a good Iron Bowl. He then goes onto say.....wait for it....”I’m a bama fan.” I just told him to put my sodas in plastic bags and to save the smoke for the barbecue. Damn turds!
After arriving at his lakefront mansion , he whipped out his yacht for a nighttime cruise and went onto his nightly four-hour lovemaking session with his former Miss Alabama wife.
He stopped by the marina where he encountered another Bama fan. This time he told him to fill her up.
I’d like him to elaborate on exactly at what grocery/convenience store he was shopping where they still ask “paper or plastic”.

Spoiler PhillipMarshall 42367 posts Spoiler 4 hours agoVIP He was talking about the conservative second half, not the punt return. Ole Miss scored 20 points against Auburn reserves. That game was over at the half. I'm really not sure what I can do other than ask questions. If anyone says anything other than what you guys have decided is true, the ridicule begins. I wish that wasn't the case, but it is what it is. I thought this guy was pretty straightforward. In fact, I know he was. Maybe you guys know so much football that you can see every adjustment. I don't. But I do know adjustments are made throughout games. PhillipMarshall 42367 posts 4 hours agoVIP JackWhite said... (original post) Yeah, these coaches don't get it. Excuse after excuse. By the way, UGA's starting quarterback got hurt in the first game and they haven't skipped a beat. So tired of rationalizing every poor performance with some lame excuse or another. The only person who mentioned the injuries last year was me. You can think losing White and Pettway last season didn't matter if you want, but you would be wrong. PhillipMarshall 42367 posts 4 hours agoVIP Ricedp105 said... (original post) I don't think these posts are directed at you personally, more the sources that tell you this information and the fact that there is no self awareness in our program anymore and it seems like one excuse after another and then a Mea Culpa, followed by more ineptness...rinse and repeat. How many times has Gus "vowed" to get things fixed now? It's just frustrating that these issues still arise year after year... Just because somebody doesn't say what you think or I think doesn't mean they are wrong. The very first thing he said was they need to do a better job of responding to what other people do. That was the very first sentence. Honestly, if the only thing anybody wants to see is something that backs up their own perceptions, I don't know what to do about that. I realize that a lot of folks on here have written off a season that is, right now, 5-2 and 3-1. Coaches haven't and players haven't.. Maybe that makes people angry. I can't help it. PhillipMarshall 42370 posts 4 hours agoVIP Well, again, I find myself defending myself. The person I talked to knows what's going on, better than I do and better than you do. The first sentence acknowledged was that they need to do a better job of responding. I don't think there is anything he could write that would make some of you guys happy other than repeating what you believe. That's fine, but that's not the way I do business. I don't talk to people who actually know what's going on based on message board perceptions or even my own..I haven't, I'm not and I won't. I asked him about the things about those games and he gave me an answer. He had no reason to tell me anything that he didn't see as the truth. If it makes people feel good to ridicule other people who actually have their lives and livelihoods invested in this, so be it. I won't be doing that either. I'm not afraid to write the truth, whatever it is. I've spent my adult life doing that. However, I'm not going to talk to one who knows what's going on and then claim to be an expert and say he doesn't know what he's talking about. That would be pretty ridiculous on my part. PhillipMarshall 42370 posts 4 hours agoVIP Big A said... (original post) Laughable. The punt return was definitely not the difference in the game. Are we really trying to place blame there instead of the coaching that was happening on our sidelines? That's really rich. Yes, the punt return was the difference in the game. For some reason it seems like you feel the need to defend what this person said and side with him. I'm not sure why that is. Just because we don't agree with the words doesn't mean we are criticizing you for reporting it. Honestly confused why you are offended by any of these responses. You know, it's one thing to disagree with what somebody said. It's another to ridicule and call names. That's what troubles me. When someone says he's dumb and he's Gus' puppet because he doesn't agree with him, when people are called morons and idiots, that troubles me. I am sorry, but it does. As I've said many times, I understand the disappointment when things don't go well but I don't understand anger, vitriol and personal attacks as related to college football. It's supposed to be fun. PhillipMarshall 42371 posts 3 hours agoVIP I am going to try to explain this one more time while vowing to myself not to do this again in FYEO, This is from one insider with an informed opinion. It is not "the coaches." It is not Gus. It is not Chip Lindsey or Kevin Steele. I apologize for getting people riled up. I guess some people enjoy that. I don't, and it won't happen again. (original post) People do enjoy the insider info but the fans are getting tired of the same excuses with no change The first words this person said were that obviously they aren't doing a good enough job of responding when people adjust. The very first words. He then explained his view of why things are happening. My purpose in doing this is to try to give people a view of what is actually happening and not what is perceived to be happening. If it becomes such that the only thing that is acceptable is "Our coaches stink. We do an awful job. The message board guys all know what they are talking about and we don't," then what is the purpose of doing it? I mean, my feelings aren't hurt or anything. I just don't see any reason to continue wasting my time offering something that people neither appreciate nor take seriously because if it doesn't match up with they believe. I'll tell you what "the coaches" think. They think they gave away a game they clearly should have won and they are sicker about it and hurt more about it than anyone on this or any other message board. They also think that it's not the end of the season, that they still have a chance to have a great year. I'm not sure what people would want them to think. Clearly, they're not going to say "Here's how we are going to attack Arkansas or Georgia or whoever. I was as critical as anyone in more than one column about what happened Saturday. My mission then became to do my best to find out what they were trying to do and why it happened like it did. That's what I've tried to do. I will still try to do that, but I doubt it will be in this forum again. It is, as I said, a waste of time. Not only do people think this person - who knows very much what he is talking about - doesn't know what he's talking about, it makes them angry and upset because, somehow, they are convinced they know more. PhillipMarshall 42371 posts 20 minutes agoVIP Mr Perfect said... What do you think about what I said in my columns on the day of the game and after? At no time have I said there wasn't a problem. Neither did the person I talked to. The first thing he said was that there was a problem. None of that is what I have a problem with. I have a problem with name-calling and ridiculing. No, I'm not going to tell somebody like that he doesn't know what he's talking about. I don't know why things happened the way they did. Neither do any of the people you mentioned. We just refuse to mix the ingredients. Click to expand... I've watched their recruiting for over 55 years and your post pretty well covers it. Bryant's reputation and winning ability served as a built in PR campaign to a large degree when it came to recruiting but he also never saw a top player that he wouldn't "Buy" if it took that to get him. Over the years, I've heard and seen evidence that they've always cheated and I also saw their recruiting "network" was really perfected during the Bryant era. Many things were already in place with their cheating networks when Saban arrived and he used it extensively his first few years. After that, his reputation of winning and placing players at the next level propelled his ability to sign top players for that reason and he backed off cheating unless it was a top player he needed to cheat to get. It has now reached as point where most SEC schools are not even competitive with them anymore because the disparity of the talent level and extensive depth is so far above that of other schools. With our leadership and philosophy, combined with the media bias, it's doubtful that we will ever achieve the success that they've enjoyed under Bryant and Saban but if our leadership were devoted to us being the best we could be, we can still win championships and compete. It's just frustrating for me at my age to see our schools leadership farting away opportunities to be the best that we can be and making stupid decisions that hinder us from achieving that goal. Coach Jordan once said something to the effect that: The only enemy Auburn has is Auburn itself and it remains true even today. 38 Today at 10:13 AM 66otiss, AubAlum0509, lakelandtiger and 2 others like this. I think they have backed off a good bit and only step up when they have to now because once he got things rolling there, the success allowed him to get most players they wanted without having to do anything of significance. I mean, why risk it if you don't absolutely have to at this point? 71 Today at 2:04 PM L I G E RI HATE EVERYTHING I 100% believe they do. And I'm insanely jealous of them for it. Their high-dollar boosters want to influence wins for their program and losses for their rivals. Buying players and supporting publicity for opponents' dirty laundry is a prime example of their commitment to winning at all costs. They win games and championships long before the opening kickoff ever happens. 72 Today at 2:07 PM nighthawk004All-American ↑ You are kidding are a bammer, no other explanation Aler, what do you do for living? 73 Today at 2:07 PM DufnerFanBoyFirst Round Draft Pick ↑ and grand scale.including money to players, families high school coaches and institutions. does anyone here not believe that spuat has a system in place to crush any school who is a threat . does anyone here believe that spuat holds its players to the same character standards as other schools. does anyone here believe spuat doesn't wield undue influence with the sec and ncaa. they are a pathetic joke 74 56 minutes ago rbl92All-American ↑ I mean, why risk it if you don't absolutely have to at this point? To win. To remove all doubt. To demoralize your competitors. To dominate. 75 47 minutes ago TitanTiger (AU)All-American ↑ To win. To remove all doubt. To demoralize your competitors. To dominate. I think there's a tipping point where you can do that without exposing yourself to more potential NCAA attention than is necessary. There's a reason the Ole Misses of the world get caught more often than bigger programs and it's because they are fighting from a deficit and end up taking bigger risks and more of them to catch up. Once you're established, you can scrape so much talent just based off of your success, you can be more selective and more careful. 76 45 minutes ago alerFirst Round Draft Pick ↑ Aler, what do you do for living? Self employed. Used to own a few restaurant chains that went belly up when all the rouse malls closed. Got up to 35 stores before the crap hit the fan. Now am a contractor we do a couple million a year. Make about half of what I did when I was 28 oh well 77 36 minutes ago rbl92All-American ↑ I think there's a tipping point where you can do that without exposing yourself to more potential NCAA attention than is necessary. You don't get top tier talent with promises of wins and potential pro future when other schools are offering cash. The world doesn't work that way. People aren't stupid. These kids know they are being taken advantage of by a corrupt system that requires them to work for free to chase their dreams. Once one program offers them a fraction of what they know they are worth it's game on. There is not one kid that isn't going to laugh in in Saban's face when he offers the chance to play at the great uat for free when he's getting offers of hundreds of thousands of dollars from other programs. 78 32 minutes ago TitanTiger (AU)All-American New ↑ Have you really thought about this? Click to expand... I didn't say they don't cheat at all, I'm saying they don't have to cheat nearly as much as other places. And they don't have to reach for a kid/family that won't keep it on the downlow. First of all, a certain baseline of cheating happens everywhere. The $100-200 handshakes and such. The reason Ole Miss got caught is they were careless and they went way above the norms. There are some kids and parents who are smart enough, especially if their kid is a legit NFL talent, to take the long view and go to the place where they know their kid is going to be developed and get drafted. And while the NFL can and will find players anywhere, it's not hard to see whose players get drafted the highest on a consistent basis. 79 26 minutes ago rbl92All-American New ↑ I didn't say they don't cheat at all, I'm saying they don't have to cheat nearly as much as other places. Ole Miss got busted because they outbid uat on a couple of high profile prospects. the rec didn't like that especially after ole miss beat uat a couple of times. $100-$200 handshakes are so '80s. Programs can pay every single one of their 25 signees each year $100,000 and still be paying players half of what they are paying the head coach. 80 21 minutes ago
It's flattering, honestly, that people believe our football program is so powerful that we not only influence the governance of the game at the highest levels, we actually control Auburn's media presence as well - firing Auburn reporters and message board mods whenever they work up the Auburn Man Strength to expose the seedy underbelly of the Scandal Plagued University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa (West Vance).
DeToxRox is also a Bunker poster apparently. auvaAll-American Like the salmon's return to its annual spawning grounds, out come the "Bama cheats" complaints every season as soon as it becomes evident they will throttle us once again. It's cute that OP doesn't think AU cheats along with Bama and every other decent program in the conference. If they cheat more than us then good on them that they are willing to go all in rather than half assing it.
I appreciate what you're trying to do here but the shit format of the copy/paste prevents me from enjoying this
Back Post New Thread 2nd trick-or-treater just gave me a rtr Robino26All-American bitch was trick or treating for her 2 year old and when I dropped candy in his bag she said "I'm trick or treating too". Then without asking, reached her hand into our bucket and said, "give me a payday and Milky Way". I said well alright then, she then turned as she walked off and said rtr, I replied WE, she then said it again and I said "please just get out of here". I can't even enjoy Halloween for 5 damn minutes without dealing with these assholes. I f'n hate the PTB at AU.
I was at the Augusta National the other day when a steward asked if I wanted to charge my sweet tea to my account or pay by EBT card. I said “EBT?” He said, “you know, game the system. Oh and by the way, roll tide.” I immediately called the FBI and he was arrested for treason.
