I’ve only done wooden puzzles from Liberty and apparently that company is the gold standard (or close to it).
Liberty puzzles are close to being art imo. Your jaw will drop when you see/smell it. If she’s only done cardboard then she will be very satisfied.
The Sunny City which is the third puzzle in series one of the Magic Puzzle Co. I liked the idea/twist but don’t think I’ll be doing series two.
Wife loved these. Just ordered all three puzzles of series 2 and a puzzle board thing since our kitchen table is constantly full of kid junk.
I really liked the first one but was disappointed when the other two were the exact same. It would have been nice if the twist had some variation.
I want to order a puzzle and puzzle accessories for my wife. What should I get? I'm wanting a European theme, maybe Christmas theme in the puzzle. Then I want to get one of the puzzle boards or whatever else the cool kids have. What I've tried so far: searching Amazon
My wife is thrilled with the sprawl: 200 piece on the left for my 7yo, 1000 piece center for me, 150 piece on the right for my 5yo.
I have been searching for the perfect first wooden puzzle for my wife and I think I found it jbr https://www.stavepuzzles.com/product/knight-at-stavely-castle/
I was just searching puzzles and went to that website. Saw that one and searched for lowest priced puzzle they sold. I stopped looking and went back to the google browser when after 5 minutes the lowest I had found was $700. I am both shocked and after a minute of thought not shocked that there are $8k puzzles.
1000 pieces from Marshall’s for $8. Hundreds of homogenous light blue/gray pieces sucked. It was just trial and error for a while.
Spoiler You put the puzzle together normally, but it has three sections instead of just one. You switch the sections around to create a hole in the middle for a new section (the pieces come in a separate envelope). It was neat the first time then it got repetitive. I think it would be easy enough to change the design so different sections/directions got switched around. At least then it’s a new pov and not the exact same thing.
I got it at Marshall’s last year so it’s probably not made/for sale anymore. It is just a White Mountain Christmas puzzle. https://www.whitemountainpuzzles.com/collections/holiday-puzzles?page=1
You’re going to get your identity stolen, but apparently these are the gold standard of cardboard puzzles. https://www.puzzlekolik.com/en/ I bought three this morning and have yet to be drone striked.
My dad gave me this for Xmas when he visited earlier this week. I did it last night. Nice easy 550 piece one.
Yeah that was a fun one. I even framed it after. It does appear that mine is out of date compared to yours though lol
Thought about this thread over Christmas and wanted to give the true masochists here something to drool over.
We are finally getting around to using my wife’s x-mas present. Nothing like a 1000 piece to break it in.
Just finished this 1000 piece Christmas present. Pretty fun despite losing a piece somewhere along the way.
I realize I’m just tweeting into the void with no followers but whatever. Apparently this is the way to do larger puzzles. The sorting took about 3 hours total today. The piles are sorted based on color, pattern, location, etc. I am interested how this impacts putting it all together.
It certainly makes putting the puzzle together easier…and I’d say more satisfying from an end result perspective. But I sort of like the chaos of 1000 pieces getting scanned over and over again looking for patterns and pieces on my own.
Girlfriend and I did a couple puzzles recently and now have the itch. Think we need a puzzle board or something because our kitchen table is far too small. She’s looking for a Positano puzzle and they’re all too big. I will say- it’s nice waking up, drinking a cup of coffee and working on a puzzle a bit as opposed to doom scrolling.
I’d just like to thank jbr for introducing me to the true wood puzzles. Bought some for the wife since she’s a big puzzler and shewee those are actually something I could actually do. The puzzle pieces being shaped like people reading or vespas instead of the traditional nub and recess makes it way more enjoyable
The Liberty puzzles were a shock to me the first time. Putting them together is completely different than cardboard puzzles as it’s 3D vs 2D. When the pieces slide into place…
Hmm you have my interest. Seems like the Liberty puzzles are about $100. Any cheaper options to get my feet wet or should I bite the bullet?
Magnolia 1000 piece…the image, color, and fit are fire. Sorting everything up front made putting it together very easy. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
At the playground with my kids and heard quiet sobs. I realized it was me because a puzzle out there will never be complete again. I wish I did more, but I folded under pressure and just walked away. RIP, king. Spoiler
