I had no idea but my finance analyst was sharing with me that she is into speed puzzling contests. There is apparently a World Series for it, and she meets to compete twice weekly on 500pc speed tournaments.
Doing a holiday puzzle with the big Christmas tree, ice skating, etc…when I notice a headless lady with a rack on the ice.
This is my favorite puzzle I’ve done since I started making puzzles happen in 2020. I bought a frame from Goodwill for $15 a few years back and finally got around to cleaning it up/painting it. I have to order a custom mat and hang this puppy. Not bad for $20.
My last ‘zzle of 2024. I love a good looking sugar skull (obviously) despite having zero to do with the holiday/culture.
scissors Thank You... First time coming across this thread. I love puzzles and been getting my kids into them slowly. I'll post some images of the ones we have accomplished. Please keep posting. Also outside of that fantastic kissing skulls, what do you do with all the puzzles you complete? Do you break them down and box them or are they all hanging in a basement? Just curious.
I just break them down and back in the box. I give most of them away to friends, TMBers, and the Goodwill. Welcome to the thread.
It’s a Magnolia puzzle, but it’a a few years old and may not be widely available anymore. I think it’s called Til Death.
We note the day of completion on the underside of the lid and keep them up at our cabin for family to do when they visit us or go up there on their own. Then encourage them to do the same. On a separate note, wife and I picked up this puzzle board as a gift to ourselves for Xmas. It was expensive for what it is but makes it a lot easier on our backs. Wish it would tilt both ways though current configuration only works with landscapes.
Haven’t recycled cardboard this month, lucky you. We picked it up from our locally owned bookstore here in my small town but I’d imagine you can find them online.
Found it. On sale currently at $149, down fiddy. https://www.ravensburger.us/en-US/products/jigsaw-puzzles/puzzle-accessories/puzzle-board-17973 We rock with these too. Pretty handy. https://a.co/d/35mMvad
Final product. That’s a 2’x3’ frame. Mat was $120 so it’s about $170 all in. Puzzle - $20 Frame - $20 Paint - $10 Mat - $120 I’m happy with it. Going above the headboard whenever I get around to hanging it.
My niece is visiting and i suggested we do a puzzle based off this thread. I let her pick it. Just a 500 piece. It got here. We spent 20 mins flipping pieces over right and seperating the borders then connecting the borders. After 30 more mins i walked away frustrated. Those damn pieces are so friggen small and the one she chose is 40% water and 40% mountain. Bad decision. I dont see how u guys do it.
I'm not great at it but sort the rest by color, sometimes doing the border just makes it harder. I also would anticipate it to take multiple days unless you really enjoy sitting there for hours.
2000 piece Buffalo Games hot off the finishing presses. This one took a few weeks…2000 is just too big for me.
Slowly put this one together over the last 6-8 weeks. I think this wraps up puzzle season for me. See you all next fall.
Spring and summer is all kids sports, vacations, and outdoor activities. Fall and winter is hunkering down with bourbon and knocking out some 1000 piece beauts at the dining room table. Your season doesn’t have to end, but I like a break from the grind of churning out puzzle content for the board.
My son wanted a whimsy piece (which is given away at the store) so I had to buy a puzzle because it’s his fault.
So I’m not in the know when it comes to this. But, after putting them together do the majority of people frame them and keep them hung up? Or did they break it down and put it back in the box?
goddamnit have you ever put an entire puzzle together only to find out there are THREE pieces missing? someone has to be fucking with me 3 pieces. Brand new puzzle purchased off Amazon.
