Imagine taking two lives and then guaranteeing you'll never be free again because someone is stomping their feet and you're annoyed.
Kinda crazy to look back at the Aurora shooting photos. I feel like that was the next “big” mass shooting after columbine and it’s just been an onslaught since.
I live close to Blacksburg and was a senior in high school during the Virginia Tech one. That’s probably the one I remember most vividly after Columbine.
Was crying by the second pic and felt like puking 2 pictures later. How can anyone see that, especially someone with kids, and still be ok with guns?
Source. The videos and comments are pretty brutal. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/interactive/2023/ar-15-force-mass-shootings/
That article is absolutely crushing. Everyone needs to see it. the pictures of the kids crying as they're being led out of the school single file.. The worst... Similar age as my oldest. That and the constant ringing of cell phones in backpacks after the shooting was over
Finally got to read the article. Oof that's tough to read. Daughter started kindergarten this year. During orientation they mentioned that every classroom had a door that only opens inside to outside so kids could go outside and back inside for recess without having to go all around the school and in the back of my head I knew it was a design based on school shooting so kids can get out easily. On one hand, that's good, on the other hand it's sad af that we have to build schools to prepare for that bc hardos care more about playing pew pew than kids dying in schools.
How old is the building? Most any new design of schools is minimizing exterior doors, not putting one in each classroom
I think this is the 2nd year, so very new. I can't speak for every classroom, just going off what they said. This isn't her room but one from her school like hers. This would be taken from the entry door from the hallway in her classroom. Exit is on the other side. I guess I can see an argument each way for more or less doors. If a gunman enters the school hallway, an alarm can go out to say gtfo outside and run.
There's no handle on the outside. It locks when it closes and an alarm goes off if it's open too long so it can't be propped open. At least that's what they said.
What's the frontrunner solution? For schools/office buildings specifically to attempt to handle when there is an armed psycho inbound or on premise? Obviously immediate access to guns is our glaring #1 - but I figured there are probably some people on the board with more expertise than myself on the aforementioned.
honestly i dont see how there's effective prevention and you're just stuck with hopes and prayers. good country.
Also that was planned as hell based on text/video/photo evidence. The guy wanted to shoot up a school that was flying red flags for months in advance telegraphing that maybe he shouldn't have a firearm.
Pulse bodycam footage is so devastating because of that. It is dead silent in the building except for the deads' cellphones constantly ringing
Nick Berg beheading remains undefeated in the list of things I fucked up and looked at on the Internet
As a parent, or family member for that matter, I can't imagine trying to call your loved one after hearing about an incident and not getting a response. Ugh, makes me so sad. And this shite country won't do anything about it. If nothing happened after Sandy Hook, nothing will happen until congress members are effected first hand.
That, and the video someone posted on the cartel thread where they let dogs loose on some guy and one of the dogs was literally ripping the guy’s dick off.
Yep, absolutely no fucking way I'm doing that. Was so tough before I had a kid to read about this, now I honestly actively avoid looking and reading about school shootings because I get this ugly sense of dread at how helpless I am to protect my child.
If only that pesky little thing called qualified immunity didn't exist. Too bad we can't do anything about it!
get rid of that and major unions pay the civil suits and it will be amazing how quickly police brutality stops
4 transported to hospital following shooting at Ohio Walmart: Police Four people were injured and transported to a hospital Monday night after a man walked into a Walmart in Beavercreek, Ohio, and began shooting, police said. Authorities said the incident happened around 8:35 p.m. ET in Beavercreek, which is located in Greene County, Ohio, not far from Dayton. The shooter died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Beavercreek Police said. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the FBI, as well as other local agencies, were on the scene Monday night, assisting the Beavercreek Police with the investigation. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and families impacted by this horrific tragedy," the police said in a statement. Police said they had no additional information on the condition of those transported to the hospital. Walmart also issued a statement to ABC News, saying those at the company were "heartbroken." "We’re heartbroken by what’s happened at our Beavercreek, Ohio store," the company's statement read. "This remains a developing situation, and we’re working closely with investigators on the scene." Police said they plan to share an update on Tuesday. No further details were immediately available.
Im not doing it. I’ve been a on a tenuous fight with myself over all of this stuff. Mentally I just can’t do it.
It won’t work. The “guns don’t kill people, people kill people” mantra runs too deep. That false presumption creates endless justifications, especially when people have a belief system formed around binary good and evil actors fighting over our souls. We’re past the point of no return.
I just want them to say they're ok with dead kids more than actually changing their mind. Just watch them squirm trying not to say.
