Rhubarb Saturday night, hopefully a hike Sunday morning (weather permitting), Jettie Rae’s Sunday night, and I think Blue Dream Monday. Going to be a whole lot of beer drinking and concert going in between
https://wnc-cbd.com/collections/high-thca-collection/products/hippy-crippler-indoor-high-thca Anyone familiar with this place? The weed thread says it's the best legal stuff you can buy. I can't find an address on their website. Wondering if it's something locals know about
Heading back up next week. Any new food recs? Not a bougie food guy, prefer more casual. Biscuit Head will get our business every morning. Definitely doing the Nashville hot chicken place again. Will probably do the Juicy Lucy place again, they had a good burger. Will do Funkatorium again too. Saw a Daddy Mac's BBQ, is it any good? Any other suggestions?
Looks like 11:30-4:30? Yea that won't work for us. Most days we eat Biscuit Head between 9-10am and then don't eat again until 5-6 for dinner. We normally don't do a lunch.
Bears smokehouse on the south slope is pretty good. You’re probably wasting a meal there in Asheville though.
Random, anyone know of a good Jeep trail guide up here? We brought my Jeep and I'd love to run some scenic trails.
I don’t unfortunately. Searched a few local groups and nothing came up. Let me know if you find someone
Hut Biscuit Head remains undefeated. Still the best breakfast I've had. I could eat the chicken gravy like soup.
Sad news for Blue Dream https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-sav...T1oS6PY3CeddNKz8iVXgRmFVpzlwlFrb3Y3BMHHZZUKJ0
Went to Rhubarb last night. Weather sucked, but the place was fantastic. Asheville is a great city, even if known Asperger, Tobias, lives or lived here.
What's y'alls thoughts on the Red Stag out near the Biltmore (I think?). Was told that the restaurant and nearby hotel were basically out of a Wes Anderson movie. Wife loves Wes Anderson -- https://www.instagram.com/accidentallywesanderson -- is her fav instagram account, and we have a Wes Anderson coffee table book. We were going to go today, but the lunch menu looks shit compared to the dinner one. We were also told that the Bear Smokehouse was every bit as good as Buxton Hall -- true or nah?
Never been to Red Stag, they're known for their steaks. My guess is you'd get a good meal out of it, but not some must-visit place. I like Bear's but I also like most barbecue so I'm a bad person to ask. Also Buxton is a fried chicken sandwich for me 100% of the time.
Headed to Asheville on Thursday and staying through Sunday. So far, the only firm plans are Curate for dinner on Thursday night and touring the Biltmore Estate on Friday. Also stopping by Grove Park Inn to have a drink on the back terrace at some point before dinner Thursday. It'll be my wife and I, and our two kids (15 and 11). Any other good recommendations for family friendly places to eat and/or visit?
Yeah, it's already changed for the better from what the forecast was last week. Still, this is just a quick spring break getaway and as long as we eat well and relax everything is cool.
Biscuit Head for breakfast. I'll say this everytime someone bumps this thread. Get the biscuit with chicken gravy and a side of Sriracha sausage. You're welcome.
El Tiburon ill add I highly suggest using their website to order online. Takes about 15 minutes and it's ready when you get there. Sometimes they have a person out front with a warmer, sometimes you go inside and ask for it. If not you end up with a 30+ minute wait standing outside to get a table. We always just order early and eat in the car while we plan our day.
Dinner options have been booked: Thursday- dinner at Curate Friday - dinner at Jetty Rae’s Saturday- dinner at Corner Kitchen We’ll hit up Biscuit Head one day for breakfast, and Buxton Hall one day for lunch. PieZza and the other recommendations could be casual lunch stops, too
The lobster roll at Jettie Rae’s may be the best I’ve ever had, including those from Maine and Massachusetts. Just spectacular.
Canton, NC just closed their papermill. They had renovated a lot of the downtown and it might be worth a visit once the fart smell goes away.
yea very hotly debated topic. Great for the smell and the environment but so many people are losing jobs that aren’t easily replaced in the area.
It’s basically gentrification. Some long time salt of the earth people aren’t gonna have a job anymore. Meanwhile new neighborhoods can be developed now!
Reading this right now. Fairly entertaining read for fans of Asheville and baseball (by the guy from "Marty & McGee"). Tourists game is on my list for things I need to do in AVL https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/697042/welcome-to-the-circus-of-baseball-by-ryan-mcgee/
the article said it employs about 1100 people, from a town on 4500 that seems like tremendous job loss. i am curious what impact that will have on the pigeon river? Will be nice not having that water treatment center.
love tourists games. gorgeous venue and great location. one of the things i miss most about living there
