I got them because my local shop had them marked down for a sale and I got the two of them for $150. $99 a piece regular. They are what started this lol. I like them so far.

Also, if anyone is looking at shimano or Daiwa reels, I recommend buying from Japan. Much cheaper, and you get it super fast. FedEx flies straight from Tokyo to Memphis and you usually have it quicker than buying from bass pro or something online. Just have to be careful with how much you buy at a time to not get flagged for taxes

the guy at plat answered all my questions and even sent me an email asking if I was OK after Hurricane Ian. That was a month after I received my order

Fishing buddy slept through his alarm allegedly then said he didnt feel like driving to get bait so he just said fuck it. Didnt feel like dealing with launching and trailoring boat by myself so I just said fuck it. Glad I woke up early and got everything loaded into the boat etc

I think my live well hose has a leak. Every time I run the live well all day my automatic bilge kicks on and shoots a little water out after a few hours. I've looked down in the bilge with a flashlight with the live well running and I can't see anything leaking. Boats are such a pain in the ass. Probably going to have my local place put a new hose/line in when I have my 100 hour engine service done this winter. At least it's not peak boating season right now. Although I will say it was slick today and like 72 degrees and snapper season is still open. Would be nuts to be whacking them in November.

One of the coolest things I've caught remains a 5" native out of a feeder creek that isn't even on the state list of trout water. Looks very much like this. Almost needed a tenkara setup the way the laurel grows over it.

Just got an Old Town AutoPilot 120 off Facebook marketplace. I’ve been watching it for a couple of months now and once it dropped to a price I was comfortable with I pounced.

    A08090DD-9B7E-47B4-B393-824171B793CB.png

I pick it up in 2 weeks after getting my truck situated for it. Can’t wait to get it on the water and looking forward to joining the saltwater kayaking TMB crew :beerchug:

Debating on buying a trailer for it or just using a bed extender (I have a Tacoma so the bed isn’t huge). Any suggestions or recommendations are welcome. Biggest concern with a bed extender is lifting it in and out of my truck and getting into the water with just a cart depending on the launch area.

I don't have a fancy kayak so I just throw mine in the bed of the truck and strap it down and then lug it around without a cart etc.

I may be doing a little more kayak fishing this winter as the wind blows so damn hard it makes launching the boat and going out front in the boat not worth it. The kayak is so much less work, less time, and less maitenance. You can go launch the kayak and be home in 2.5 -3 hrs. That's impossible with the boat.

Currently have the boat in the shop and they are searching for a leak. After about 2 hrs of fishing with the live well on, the auto bilge kicks on for about 5 seconds. I've put the boat in the water and run the live well and stuck my head in the bilge with a flashlight and couldn't find a leak and no water was in the bilge. But every time I fish the boat with the live well going the bilge kicks on eventually. I haven't run the boat for hours without the livewell so I guess I need to try that and isolate the issue to the live well. The repair shop put the boat in the water with the live well going for 30 minutes and said no water came into the bilge. Finding a leak can be really tough. Can be live well hose at the clamp, raw water lines, fresh water lines, fitting around engine mount, scuppers, etc. But a leak bad enough to cause bilge to turn on is not safe. Fucking A.

Yep. I’ve been told it’s a complete game changer. Also has iPilot module through a Bluetooth handled device to control the motor.

I've always just had an ipilot remote. Had no clue you could do it through your cell phone. I guess it has one battery contained inside the kayak?

Yeah, I have to get a lithium battery which should power the Minn Kota motor and all of the extra modules.

I don’t think the spot lock is powered via phone app. It has its own handheld device that controls the motor and spot lock together

If you go straight down the road, there's a steep hill that drops down to the river and fishermen trails that go all the way past Spider Valley. Can't go upstream very far from the drop in point to get to the falls so you have to hike back up and go up the road to where you went.

I haven't seen a good way to get closer to the falls without hoping I don't slide down the rocks on the left there.

the hike down the hill from the parking spot was fucked. i used a limb i found to sweep leaves out of the way. it helped a little.

lol, i managed to slip getting out on the rocks. got close enough to make a lot of casts, but had to backtrack to the tail out to land anything.

Charleston folk love some Zman. Assuming he fishes for redfish, I’d just contact Zman (great customer service) and ask if they could put you a variety package together of redfish stuff. From soft plastics to spinner baits.

Had a big drop in temperature last night so I think that kept the fish down. Tried a couple small streams here in SC with just one small brook caught. I talked with a DNR agent later and learned that one of these streams is the last remaining untouched/not assisted by DNR at some point native brook trout stream here in SC.

There are 7-8 streams that I know about they've had to support that have southern brook trout in them. Often it's taking a few from one stream and transplanting them.

I've been seeing reports of people tearing up the sheephead so I figured I'd target them this morning. Fished for 4 hours and didn't get a bite lol. Had live shrimp and threw carolina rig and popping cork at each stop. Fished bridge pilings and jetties. The good news: It was super foggy this morning. Tested the radar out in the fog and it works really well. You can see all buoys , pilings, channel markers etc. You could run pretty much blind in it without hitting anything.

The service shop put it in the water for an hour on 3 separate occasions and ran all the pumps and said it was bone dry and I don’t have a leak. They suspect the auto bilge was turning on when water is coming over the transom and onto the splashwell. The splashwell has the bilge hatch cover which always can let water in as it isnt air tight. This can happen when you reverse . I ran it 4 hrs last weekend and it was bone dry.
