Terrapin Station was the song playing in the background when I was told my dog had to be put down. I get tear eyed everytime I hear it.
Jazzfestgrids are up and get updated weekly as artist book shows. Still very earl so lots of shows to still fill up. Check back often to see who will be playing late night during the festival. http://www.jazzfestgrids.com/first_weekend/ http://www.jazzfestgrids.com/second_weekend/ http://www.jazzfestgrids.com/daze_between/
I don't know if this band belongs in this thread, but they are starting to gather a following around here. Really good live. They are called Moon Taxi. "Common Ground" Moon Taxi Moon Taxi- The Stand Moon Taxi- Mustang
Let's try something new in here. Post an original song then a cover that would fit in here. For example. Weather Report - Birdland The String Cheese Incident - Birdland (Reprise)
My changes weekly, but terrapin station is up there. Try the May 19th 1977 show and give sugaree a listen. Garcia and Wier were on during this one. Also try Phil and Phriends version of Terrapin station from 04/17/1999. Version is really solid, see link below. All 3 nights for free to download right here. Also the 4/15/99 version of I know you rider is top notch from this 3 night run. http://web1.nugs.net/phil/phriends.asp?artist=19&show=309&cmd=shows
I can't really a claim a favorite. I could consider any of these songs my favorite at any time. Jack Straw China Cat>I Know you Rider Going Down the Road Feeling Bad Terrapin Station Sugar Magnolia Big River (cover) Mississippi Half-step Promised Land Estimated Prophet One More Saturday Night That's it For the Other One Me and My Uncle Mexicali Blues Bertha Shakedown Street New Minglewood Blues Stagger Lee So Many Roads Cream Puff War Music Never Stopped The Wheel Throwing Stones Deal US Blues Touch of Grey Truckin' Beat it on Down the Line As you can probably tell, I am a huge fan of Bob on vocals
This is pretty cool Fast forward to 1:30, the video kind of skips plus Danny Louis is a douchebag Gov't Mule w/ Joe Bonamassa "Sco Mule"
Been listening to a lot of MF Doom/Metal Fingers Special herb tapes here recently. It is some great stuff. Give it a couple listens it will really grow on you. Not really a fit for this thread, but I am curious what others think. He has been around a long time, but I never dug deep into his stuff until last few years. special herbs vol. 9 & 0 - untitled (meditation) MF Doom - Vinca Rosea MF Doom - Coltsfoot Leaf MF Doom - Sumac Berries
i couldnt believe it when i first read he played with them when he was like 13. motherfucking prodigy
I don't think that was the Allman Brothers. That didn't look like Greg on Keys and I only saw one drummer.
It looks like he and whatever band that was were opening for the Allman Brothers, he hadn't yet begun playing with them then..that wasn't till like 99 I think
Do yourself a favor and watch this... Its a really good song, The Bridge is one of the most underrated bands in the jam band genre The Bridge perform "Big Wheel" Live at WTMD
Going to Panic next weekend. I'm pretty pumped. This is the first show I've been to since Orange Beach in '08.
Damn son... Well you're picking a great time to go, pretty sure these shows are going to be fucking awesome.
funny you should mention that because panic is the opposite of complicated. it is mundane college jams.
Thats funny i've never heard anybody cover a panic song. I'm just going to assume you don't like them and that gets in the way of you forming a respectable opinion on them instead of just repeating something you heard somebody else say.
So are King Crimson, Yes, Sun City Girls, The Residents, Fred Frith, Chris Cutler, Peter Hammill, etc. but they all still dominate!
I've heard some King Crimson.. All i'm saying is I don't see how mundane college jams come from a bunch of old timers getting shit done up there..
Never been much of a Panic fan. Like a couple of there songs, but I can't stand the lead guys voice. Also all their jam sessions sound similar to me. 2 songs in and I feel like.its the same song. Plus every show sounds alike to me. I ain't mad at anyone for liking them, just not for me.
That sounds like a well thought out complaint, and not bullshit spewing out the mouth. I can respek that
this is what i was getting at. nothing about them really stands out to me, thus why i said "mundane." sorry josh. next time i'll pm you my complaints in advance and you can let me know if theyre worded delicately enough to post.
