You don't want to know lol
yeah no way in hell I would stand for that, maybe he didn’t take any of your cards but who knows what he all pulled and kept.
One of those /49 Acunas just went for over $600...if Robert pans out, I may have hit a HR with these purchases
Yeah, no way I'd trust anyone unless you watch them open the case/box from start to finish.
There are a lot of bad eggs on ebay unfortunately. Similar situation happened to me last week. Bought a Zion Prizm Base last month and when the card showed up it had 80/20 centering. The seller obviously used a stock photo from someone else (with perfect centering). Apparently he started a Facebook thread in a large card group asking if it was unfair that I returned the card. I truly think he was just new to selling but he made a mistake in sharing my username in a group like that. Tons of people chimed in and hatched a plan to buy a ton of stuff from me and then return it. I had 7 or 8 high-dollar auctions running so it could have been a huge headache had they won all those. Thankfully, someone messaged me on Instagram and told me about the post. I was able to talk it out with that seller and he deleted his FB post.
Yea the stock photo stuff is shady. Of all the great stuff I've gotten out of Bowman, I've still yet to pull anything beside a paper Puason, so I decided to buy a chrome one on eBay because they aren't very expensive and thought it wasn't a bad idea to have one. I bought one on eBay listed chrome with a picture of a chrome card. I get a message from seller next day that he had a mistake in the title and he was really selling a paper Puason and he'll ship me the paper unless I object. At least he notified me before shipping, but he clearly isn't using real pictures because his "mislabeled" listing showed a picture of a chrome card too.
I have a few chrome Pauson if your interested.
Anyone with Luis Robert stuff may want to consider selling some of it. His prices are going nuts just over night. His Topps base was selling $15 or so just yesterday, overnight they are all going over $25 and the auction that ends the soonest is already $27. His bowman chrome 1st are now selling over $75.
I think he is a great prospect and invested in him myself, but his current prices are pretty much on par with Acuna which is nuts to me. Acuna had 41 HR in majors last year and is actually younger than Robert is. I thought about buying more Robert stuff up, but not at these prices.
I honestly think it may even be worth holding for another month or two. My brother has 5 or 6 of the base Topps S2 base, and the other day pulled one of the foils.
True, if he comes out the season hot, they really could sky rocket. But $25+ for a base Topps card is kind of nuts. I bought 6 of them when they were selling under $20 (along with my 5x7s). I may flip one or two just to recoup some of my money if they keep going up.
That foil card sells for about $150 currently, hell of a pull. I pulled the Lux one out of series one and it's only going like $40 (which shows to me further how crazy Robert prices are when you compare to Lux)
Are some subgrades from BGS weighed heavier than others? Just saw a Lebron on ebay that had 2 8.5’s and 2 9.5’s and the total grade was an 8.5.
Mosaic football is 100% going to draw me back into collecting football. I need that stained glass Mahomes.
Are we going to be forced to buy these from online dealers and eBay once more and will us regular collectors get a shot at these.
I honestly don't know. This is the first year Mosaic will be in football. I assume there will be availability in retail.
So eBay and online dealers it is
I found you can pre order a hobby box for $300 from blowout cards. Half tempted to order a few cause I have a feeling they will increase in price right away.
Probably wouldn't be a bad decision
Any of you guys big NFL collectors? Thinking I may dabble with some this year to get Chiefs/Super Bowl stuff, are any of the sets out currently worth a damn? I know rookies aren’t in NFL attire yet so I am skeptical
Is Panini Certified football any good? I'm debating on pre ordering a few hobby boxes of either certified or Mosaic. I can get 3 certified for the price of 2 mosaic.
I have some old NFL cards I went back and looked up value on. Basically only QBs are worth anything, and a lot still not worth much. Just for comparison, I have an Aaron Rodgers topps rookie that would probably get me about the same price a Luis Robert topps rookie sells for at the moment. I found a bunch of Roethlisberger rookies that get maybe $10-15 a pop.
If you get some nice auto or numbered cards or sp cards of guys like Mahomes, there is probably some value and potentially big value, but a majority isn't worth much it seems.
Taking a chance and bought this Jameis 1/1 2017 national treasures. $105 shipped and figure that’ll go up significantly when he plays.
Would recommend mosaic over certified for resale value. Where are you ordering from?
I ordered 2 hobby boxes from DA Cards. They were $209 compared to $250 from blowout cards. I think I will still pre order 2 hobby boxes of mosaic too.
I personally love Certified but in terms of resale/desire it is probably middle of the pack in the hobby world. A fun rip for sure but not what one would consider 'premium'
That is pretty odd. Perhaps corners/edges carry more weight than centering/surface when it comes to overall grade?
From what I’ve seen most collectors think that whatever your lowest score is that the always lean towards score and if it had two 8.5s they for sure won’t score it higher than that.
I think at this point I’m going to hang on to box’s when they come in and see how crazy the prices get and maybe flip them and work towards a few really nice hobby box’s.
if you guys ever see any of the soccer cards out in your areas, let me know. The Panini chronicles cello packs are starting to hit retail, and I'd love to get some if you guys can grab any
Found out there is a card show every week literally less than a mile from my house. It's not advertised anywhere but went today. They had good prices and picked a bowman blaster for fun because it was close to retail price and picked up one of the big Topps boxes to hunt for Robert. Haven't got to the Topps box, but pulled a gold #1/50 Drew Waters insert from my Bowman blaster. Probably only a $10-20 card since it isn't his rookie or bowman 1st set, but if he pans out it could be a nice little card. Lowest SP I've pulled from bowman. Pulled a black Topps Arrea last week too /69. Nice week of SP pulls, just wish they were rookies or bowman 1st
Counterpoint: He has a ton of holes in his swing and could start the season off hitting 100 and his prices tank. I would sell some/hold some.
This^. Yes he can hit the ball a country mile but I’d wouldn’t pay these prices till you know he can hit big league pitching on a consistent basis. I’m trying to sell some of his stuff now but I am holding onto a few rc just in case. I’m also selling all Dominguez cards, I don’t think he will ever be the player everyone is banking on.
Right. I mentioned to him today to sell 2-3 of the base to fund getting the rest graded. That way if he balls out he’s got big cash, if not, he didn’t spend the money to grade them
Brothers on a heater. Got a box of finest yesterday and got a 5/5 Yaz red auto.
I think Robert is a great prospect and am holding his stuff for a little, but I'm also done investing any more in him because prices are nuts. PSA 10 of his bowman 1st now selling for a good $30 more than Acuna is. Acuna has a track record in MLB and is younger.
Also just opened the Topps box and my wife wanted to open some packs. She pulled a Robert rookie for me. Also pulled a Betts and Cole SP. I told my wife to tell me is she got a Robert or any card that looked different if not put rest in the pile of commons. She pulled a black /299 Trout 35th anniversary all star and put it in common stack. Nice little surprise when I started to sort the commons haha
Grocery store had some Topps series 2 packs near checkout so I just grabbed two as I checked out, because admittedly I'm a little obsessed on ripping packs right now haha. But I did pretty well. First pack pulled another Robert base. Second pack I pulled my first ever 1/1. Unfortunately it's a printing plate for the Ray's team card so I don't think it's worth much but it is still cool
That’s awesome that the printing plates can be had in retail packs.
I got a box of Finest and a Bowman blaster I’m going to open while watching the Royals lose tonight.
I bought way too much series 2 hunting Robert cards. I've got probably two of the hobby boxes that are $80 each, I think 3 blasters, a hanger and multiple packs. Done pretty well pulling sp just not of desirable cards. But it's kind of a one card set anyway. The printing plate, an /25 camo Ryan Zimmerman, a father day /50 Delino Deshields, an /50 gold Jordan Hicks insert and two vintage stocks /99 cards of the Yankees team card and Ronny Rodriguez. Also pulled a black insert trout which is /250 I think. Unfortunately all my gold and rainbow foils haven't been desirable either. Did get a Mookie and Cole SP. The Robert bases I've pulled are probably worth more than any of those
Riley Green auto should be coming in the mail today or tomorrow
Got my series 2 pack of T206 today. Got a Griffey base(favorite player ever), and got Jackie Robinson and Cal Ripken as my Sovreign backs. Not sure if I should hold or sell as I don’t think the run was that large.
Who was the seller?
Also I'll grade your cards a psa10 for half the price
Anyone know much about panini black for football. I see it’s only one pack of 5 cards, is it one of those crapshoots, you spend 300 and only get a few cards worth 30-50 or you could hit it big and get a card worth a few g’s.
In the past, Black & Gold and Black haven't been that desirable of sets.
It's not up any more, but I'm pretty sure I saw on Blowout the 12 box case of Mosaic Football was $7800.
eBay name is yyc_sportscards
He waited until the day eBay could get involved before shipping the cards (5 days after I requested refund) and came up with a new BS excuse that if I followed him on Instagram like his listing said I would have been notified when the live break actually happened. He offered me after a partial refund. I mean I paid like $3 for Tigers and $10 for As in a 10 cello bowman break. I did it just for cheap fun. He basically refunded me everything but shipping. I'm pissed he shipped it and then offered me a refund on everything but shipping, when he waited until I could get eBay involved to ship anyway. Whatever, I just took partial refund, will eat a couple bucks (I don't even remember what cards where in the break) and will just not buy into any of his future breaks
Which one did you get? I've got two now, bought a cheap /50 off brand one and then got his bowman first auto when they dipped in price a little. I see they are back over $200 again
Wanna sell the drew waters?
