ESPN trying to cultivate the YouTube generation. They’re just throwing shit against a wall and hoping some of it sticks
A whole lot of 40 something parents would be interested in knowing more about dude perfect if they have kids who love them. It’s also a really interesting story in the sense they’ve gone from videos to trying to build a theme park. not sure if it fits for 30 for 30 but ESPN has an audience for it
Dude Perfect have been relevant for like 10+ years. Parents who wanted to learn more about them have already done so. Not sure who this is for.
Does it matter? It’s just one episode. Almost everything they talk about is some old topic. Maybe the doc is interesting. But it’s sports adjacent and relevant. Not sure worth complaining about and there is plenty to complain about with espn programming. all I was saying is that the audience isn’t just 10-16 year olds.
it is one episode of a 5 episode season. two of the episodes are immediate losers. of course the topics are "old," that is the point. Doing a doc on a group of youtubers who are still active seems like a real waste of a time slot. and sports adjacent
They should do a 30 for 30 type series focused entirely on the business of sports. Contract negotiations, stadium deals, endorsements, team owner bios, blown up deals/trades that never happened, etc…a sophisticated deep dive into the finances…
My 7 year old thinks they’re cool. That’s the extent of it. I’m not trying to convince you to be interested, I’m just saying their ascension is notable and I just shrug they are doing 30for30 on them. It’s not like they went straight to the Taylor Swift well or something. You guys are really reaching to hate something on this one. It probably will be forgettable. You’re overreacting
I'm not hating on dude perfect really, I'm just skeptical there's an untold story about them that needs to be told.
Probably true. But espn hasn’t spent time on them I guess and are just presenting something. Plenty of 30for30s are previously told stories just in a different place.
The John skipper/david Samson segment on the lebatard show goes into this although I don’t think Samson is the greatest person for it. But I agree it would be just a good ongoing show, nevermind a limited series.
The story is out there and it's been done in shorter segments. 100% due to projections from the supposed returns the Wilpons (Mets owners) were getting from their buddy, Bernie Madoff, which turned out to be beyond fantastical ...
It's just not an interesting sports story If Nate Burleson intro'd a segment for it, I'd say yea that checks out
I absolutely hate the Dude Perfect commercial for Smoothie King, and it plays every break during Rangers games. That's all I know about them, so fuck them
Augusta National allowing Dude Perfect to film one of their stupid videos on the course was upsetting
Because they got incredibly rich by "simply" doing trick shots on YT and that pisses normal people with normal jobs off
ESPN should do a 30-for-30 exposé on Baby Gronk’s dad and his journey from failed musician to professional grifter. And they can pay the real Gronk to finally get in a room with him.
