Some people just can't appreciate the finer things in life. It's a dessert, and a side at the same time.
Used to work with a guy who would smoke rutabagas stuffed with turkey trimmings (neck and wing meat mostly) and they were straight fire.
This is what ruined me for so much of my life. Boomers making casseroles out of canned slop. Obviously the opposite of your point but I have PTSD from it
My biggest mind fuck "how can this be good" but it's good is pineapple casserole. My body tries to reject eating it up until it's in my mouth
I watch this guy from time to time. Love his cookbook and a lot of the shit he does despite the fact it's pretty labor intensive at times. this came across my feed last night and reminded me of this thread
I make wes tegg dressing every year but double the sausage and don't use crawfish because we have some picky eaters. Red and yellow peppers instead of green. Just gets wiped out. Elite. About to make it shortly.
Our sides, in order: Dressing Mashed w/gravy Honey Yeast Rolls Sweet potato casserole Glazed carrots Air Fryer Green Beans Corn
Pineapple is so weird. It is incredibly versatile even though it seems like a one in a million based on looking like it does.
This has like cheese and I guess some kind of bread crumbs. My mind is like "oh no wtf are you doing" then you eat a bite and it's "oh this good.". Then repeat the same process for every subsequent bite I assume this is a similar mindset to eating pear salad but I can't bring myself to eat it
- garlic mash with turkey drippings gravy - stewed green beans in salt pork and ham hocks - sage sausage stuffing (not stuffed in turkey) - baked Mac and cheese - sourdough rolls
So I’ve never heard of oyster dressing either but i was intrigued by it and went out and purchased 24 fresh oysters. Did I fuck up by not getting the canned/tub kind? How can I go about making oyster liquor? also, I have the oysters on ice, should I go ahead and dice up and refrigerate or leave on ice until tomorrow? I’m following Lucy buffet’s oyster dressing recipe unless there’s a better one out there?
I’ve never done it without the tub. I’m sure if you use enough butter and/or thicken a broth you’ll be fine.
Making some sweet potatoes mashed and stuffing without bread tomorrow as my personal trainer shows no mercy. Gonna be lit!
I love green bean casserole and sneaking giblets into stuffing for these librul left coast loons amongst me, and I don’t care who knows it!
Recipe calls for apples in place of bread. I am sure I won’t be able to tell the difference once I slather it in giblet gravy thickened with arrowroot. FML…
Ima dip sprouted grain bread in water and form them into little balls and then blast them with the broiler. I have thought of everything and have it all covered!
Mother in law just called to say she accidentally ordered too many pre made sides from central market so we don’t need to make the green bean casserole. Concerning.
I got this on a cutting board for my dad the year after my grandmother passed away. I had to refine the recipe a bit because it called for about 3x as much butter, but it's still bomb
