This came out about a month ago. Don't know if it was shared. Like it a lot. Reminds me of Wednesday, Blondeshell, etc...
Gospel's the name of the band, album's called The Loser kind of wild they only have two albums 17 years apart, still haven't listened to their first one for whatever reason
Kahlua shooter, DUI scooter with a rolling start on a hill cause morning’s trying to kill me they don’t write songs like this anymore TC
Jack White "surprise" album is out on streaming services today. (Last week they slipped the unannounced album into shoppers' bags at Third Man Records. Now the album is for sale there and streaming)
Reissue/remaster releases are annoying. Spotify will have an album listed as 2023 that came out in 1980
fuck me completely forgot about new Sacri Monti, not nearly the beast their last album was but it's tough continuing to sound fresh as a pure 70's revival act still though
It's alright, but his vocals sound weird. Like he's whispering or its breathy. Wonder if his voice is shot or just doesn't have any range anymore.
Noticed the same thing. Think it’s the latter. Not like his voice was ever great though haha. Guitarwise it’s heavy, I kinda dig that. Heaviest riffs I’ve heard them use prob. And there’s no filler, it’s 9 tracks and no weird digressions to an orchestral opera or something. Solid release on one listen, adding to the collection
Ranking of Smashing Pumpkins albums https://www.euronews.com/culture/20...-to-best-including-new-album-aghori-mhori-mei No surprise that 1993-2000 were their prime
Gish way too low. I'd argue that's their second best but admittedly not a fan of much of their catalog.
Didn’t realize the Friko show I bought tickets for tonight didnt start til 11:00 (with an opener) Pray for tomorrow work me
SC and ashy larry -- best way to keep up with local shows? I used to look at Free Times weekly and they did a good job with a club calendar and reviews/writeups. Those days are long in the past. I try to follow every artist/venue I know about on IG but seems so decentralized. I wanna be at a local show like every weekend. I do subscribe to the Scene SC newsletter.
yea freetimes in its former iteration was a big loss. i don’t get out to as many shows as these days (young kids). mostly follow socials and scenesc. word of mouth from friends who play. have you checked out MIDS?
Yep, I just found them. Their "album" is really good. Only 16 minutes haha. Album cover is classic. I don't think I recognize any of the guys in the band but I see they've played with Abacus who I know.
ashy larry they just put out this concert video yesterday. Pretty wild seeing them playing in Niger, people watching from camelback etc. Crowd doesn't seem to know quite what to make of them.
it’s mostly the Dear Blanca guys. Caveman Tapes and Garbage Parter are good follows btw. both local labels.
They have quite a few of those on YouTube. It’s hilarious. Also there is a doc out there I need to see with mdou and black midi drummers. Don’t know what it’s fully about but have both those guys in my top 10 easily.
