Wild. I have a 3a I bought used for $299 two years ago and could get $300 for a trade. Might do it.
That's a steal for a much older phone.
I haven't set it up yet with any local video files or a data plan, but I can play YTTV if i'm in my home wifi range (aka driveway)
Do it. the $300 credit is temporary...tied to the 6a launch. I'm sure it will go down to $75 or less shortly.
I officially put in my order for the 6a this morning, arrival date says 8/2.
Hopefully no issues with my $300 trade-in for the 4a 5G.
What do you use instead? I seemed to rotate between that and Action Launcher during my Android days
Pixel 6 pro.
Well this is disappointing
I didn't like the lack of customization that stock Android home screen had. Didn't find it aesthetically pleasing at the time.
I thought I saw something where you'll be able to revoke permissions for the mining company. I assume that won't be sufficient for privacy?
You can try to block it from the internet but I'd imagine they have a way to sidestep that to maximize their investment.
It's just time to move on. I'm moving to mostly Open Source Software anyways so it's time to let go of some of my comforts.
Have you found any good alternatives? I've been living the nova life since 2014.
Trying Neo Launcher now to see if it will work out.
Explain this to me like I'm 5
Thanks again for posting this. Just preordered the 6a + buds. Sounds like people are getting $300 for their 3a's on Slickdeals, so I'll hope I do.
I own a pair of Pixel Buds.
Later, I received a pair of Pixel A Buds from Google tied to a promotion, technically they were given to me for free. I never opened them. I considered selling them on eBay or w/e to obtain as much of the $100 value as possible, I was assuming I'd get $80 or so.
Instead, I walked into the Target customer service counter and said "I received this item as a gift..can I exchange for store credit?". Obviously I didn't have a target receipt, but as long as you present your id (they track to ensure you aren't abusing returns/exchanges) you have a chance.
The employee scans them (again, brand new in box), and sure enough they accept the return and I get $100 in Target store credit.
You done goofed. I like my series A buds better than OG pixel buds
What could I be missing?
I have swipe to change volume, better waterproofing and wireless charging.
My pixel As actually sound better (I know they're supposedly lower quality) and stay in my ear better. I also preordered the pros so we'll see how those go
Got my 6a up and running over the weekend, really enjoying it so far.
My not expected feature I love so far - I completely forgot my 4a 5G wasn't really tapping into T-Mobile's full 5G band from the tower near my house. I went from 200 mbs/sec to 600 mbs/sec immediately with the accessible 5G UC band. That in it's own right was worth it.
Trade in box arrives today, old phone will be heading back shortly.
Glad I saw this thread. Hadn't been keeping up with Android news for the past few months. I got my mom a 6a and set it up yesterday. She had a 3a XL before. It's crazy how compact it is compared to her old 3a XL.
After using it for a bit she asked me what the hole at the top of screen was for...
Just got mine today. Thing is fast as fuck in every regard compared to my 3a.
Bought a P6 Pro from a guy on marketplace back in December or January. Randomly phone stopped working. Called Verizon support to be told the phone is locked due to the guy never paying it off. After using an iphone again for the last month had to get back into the Android game. Loved my pixel but decided to pick up the S22 Ultra.
So far so good. I typically used to shy away from any Samsung device because of my absolute hate for One UI but I guess it's def a bit improved. Screen is amazing.
Battery sucks so far but I'm a screen all the way bright all day long and always on my phone or using it to stream Spotify kind of user so batteries tend to always suck for me especially with new phones.
Also I wasn't one who had many issues with my Pixel 6 pro and I've owned every Pixel and the majority of Nexus phones so I've been a bit of a gGoogle fan boy but man they are going to really need the 7 and 7 pro to come out without a shit ton of bugs and issues. Seeing a lot of people starting to not be willing to give Google another chance.
I think Samsung makes good phones. I just don't like the crap they load on it
I think 6 pro was very glitchy at launch. I don't think it is anymore tbh
A lot of the P6 issues were because of the Gen 1 Tensor chip. They will continue to improve it as they dial in the processor.
If I have a Galaxy S20 FE that needs to be replaced, what's my best options? I don't need top of the line but want a camera as good or better than the FE. Galaxy 21 or 22? I noticed they don't accept microSDs. Or is there a better option with a good camera?
No issues whatsoever with my P6 Pro.
The only issue I have is that when I'm hotspotting to a 2nd phone, sometimes it makes mine seem like it doesn't have data, even though the 2nd phone is churning through data just fine.
Other than that, no issues either.
Upgraded my s22 to the new android 13 beta. Not much different, some nice new wifi and notification features.
Have read on the Pixel Reddit that the 13 Beta solved a lot of people's connection issues
On a semi related note, I've been on Google Fi for quite some time. I've traveled all over and it has been phenomenal. Until I went to Aruba. I got stuck on 2g the entire time except when I got back to the airport to go home I connected to 3g. It was like a sick joke.
The $300 trade in is back on. I was so pissed I missed it but figured they'd bring it back. No buds but I am super happy to be getting that much for my old 3a XL.
I immediately put it on. The only possible issue I've had is a "connection issue" for mobile banking deposits. That said, I wonder if that's just Fi VPN or something.
'Texting between iPhone and Android is broken:' Google puts Apple on blast for converting Android texts to green bubbles and 'blurry' compressed videos
Trying to decide between a 6a or the 6. Coming from an old moto g stylus, so I'm sure either will be massive upgrades. This phone just can't keep up with what I need
You can't go wrong with either one IMO. Looks like the 6 is basically the same size as your Moto. I have the 6 and love it so far. Got my mom a 6a and it's a good bit smaller than the 6.
Went ahead and got the 6 pro...found a decent deal on an open box phone.
Anyone have a favorite screen protector for the 6 pro?
Don't do it. It'll fuck with the finger print scanner
I've dropped my 6 pro a couple of times and (knock on wood) not broken the glass. I think the glass is pretty decent. I do have probably the mid range Spigen case. It's not the most heavy duty but not the most streamlined either. It's worked for almost a year.
I think you'll be ok with a film screen protector but not sure about the glass ones with the curved screen
The screen is prone to microscratches that you'll only see with the screen off. Other than that, the screen is really good at being deep scratch proof and shatter proof
FP scanner and the connection issues seem to be fixed for me on A13
I've always used tempered glass screen protectors and have never had issues. Just for duh, I put one on from an old phone on my pixel and haven't had any fingerprint issues.
Now I realize the curved screen makes glass protectors difficult, so I'll try something else. I'm not super worried, but I like the fact that my screens stay completely scratch free. We'll see
I have tempered glass SP on my P6Pro. No issues it seems beyond the one everyone else has with the sub-standard choice of under display fingerprint sensor.
Do you have a link to which one you bought?
I have bought twice from Whitestone Dome, for my P2 and P6Pro, each were about $35-40.
That's what I figured. Any issues with installation?
