Agree with the close to the film. For me it was definitely just hold on to your butt all the way from when:

"Set the time to target to 2:15."

Agree. They hit all the right nostalgia moments prior to that and had some laughs but after that it kicked into a different gear. I really can't say enough how immersed I was in the last 30 minutes or so. Idk if it was the movie, the 4dx, or both but after it ended I kinda looked around and realized other people, including my wife, were even there. There was that one black screen for like 2 seconds that was a wait wtf moment.

    what?

Also, Magnolia is Cruise’s best role.

What'd you think of the 4dx experience? I know we discussed some of the different viewing options here a month or so ago.

EDIT: Never mind, just saw your post on the previous page, it appears I missed some posts from last night and just now catching up

Yea I was seriously regretting my decision after the 2 previews where it felt like a roller coaster but it ended up being great. They have things in the head rest that shoot air so in some of the air scense where they'd show the engine you'd get a burst of air behind your ears. Was pretty cool. I could do with a little less movement of the chair and more of the wind and smell though.

Yea, that last however many minutes was fucking great

We took the 8 year old with us last night and he was on the edge of his seat that whole time
He lost interest/got bored during some of the movie. But was 100% in on all the flying scenes.
He made little paper airplanes out of some napkins and during the scenes he was bored he was simulating dog fights with them

One thing that I've been thinking about a lot since seeing it last night is how great the trailer was for this film. I had a pretty good idea of what we could expect overall, but it also didn't give anything away and some of the specific things I was expecting based on the trailer played out differently in the movie and I definitely liked that. Plus, it didn't give anything away regarding the main mission while also not providing many images/scenes from the last 30 minutes.

The only one I know I saw in a trailer was the f14, I found myself second guessing my memory of seeing in in a pre-view

I'll go see this, I think, and will be a good test case for this, because I think of the original as a fun, eminently watchable, trite cornball classic. It probably wouldn't make my top 10 Cruise movies.

Minority Report is such an unbelievably well made movie. Colin Farrell really underrated performance. You think he's the bad guy but realize he's the good guy without him changing his performance and he does it flawlessly and believably

Flight scenes were well done and Jennifer Connelly hasn't looked that scrumptious in years, but implausible premise and lack of character development keeps this from being more than just a fun movie to watch on the big screen. Tom Cruise is also not a good enough actor to make you forget that you're watching Tom Cruise in a Tom Cruise vehicle
