Normally I’d say this is unnecessary and we need new ideas but what we really need is another Top Gun
Gotta be flying the F/A-18 again, right? I can’t imagine the Navy would let them near an F-35, and it’s not like any of those are two seaters anyway.
Or the NGAD. That said given the F-35 is an export aircraft, could always film one of the export variants instead of the US stuff. And they've had 35's at air shows now so they aren't THAT secret.
Yeah, I thought about that regarding the F-35 after I posted it. I guess they could still put interior and exterior cameras on the F-35, but might have to CGI the actors into the plane given it’s a one seater; if they even end up using it. I’d hate to see them go that direction. I hope they just stick with F/A-18, or something they can and fly and get some shots in. What made Top Gun so special to me was the cinematography, and the radio chatter (more so in the first). I don’t need an extraordinary plot, although I won’t be mad, just give me a reasonably conceivable mission. The jets, dogfighting, beyond visual range fighting, vapor cone visuals, SEAD, attention to fighting details, etc., are enough to make an awesome movie imo.
Russ Wheeler puts Rowdy Burns into the wall and kills him. Cole Trickle, who retired some years ago, mentors Burns’ son, a racing prodigy with a short fuse.
Maybe this will be the inspiration for the movie....Cruise has to find a way to fly one out of the ocean after the battleship he's on has been attacked by Orcas
