I was missing my Seamaster for a week. Went through my parents house and my own house. Devastated. Finally threw a Hail Mary and asked my 1.5 year old where my watch was and she walked and grabbed it from a one of those travel bags they give you at the dentist under our bathroom sink.
Tried on a “birth year” or close to it Submariner the other day. The bracelet was so shitty. I’d have to wear it on nato or something if I bought it.
Had a custom strap made by this dude in Montreal, Aaron Bespoke. Cashmere plaid with Hermes leather back. Spoiler
Found one with tags in like new condition in Italy. Even came with a snazzy aftermarket metal strap and the original leather one. I’m an enormous fan
I tried this on this weekend. I wish the subdials were smaller so they didn't cut off the numerals but overall I still like it, mainly bc of the dial color. The watch wore small though. It's a 42 but felt like a 40. Probably bc it doesn't have a chunky bezel.
I had one for a while and loved it. Rarely ever saw anyone else wearing one. The resale is pretty terrible which also means used ones are a bargain.
Love the watch, but it's priced appropriately without the factory bracelet, which you're going to want.
dblplay1212 Here you go - pick it up pre-owned from a solid dealer (I’ve purchased from them before) and save $7K vs new pricing:
It felt way too small for me. I thought it'd work bc it's a 42 but it felt like 38 with no bezel. Same. That and the pistachio version might be the only Breitling watches I like.
Trying to narrow this down. I'm not going to pay $50k for the smurf or blueberry but I love blue dial watches. Green is probably my 2nd favorite. Also want to get a cool one to wear when I'm boating and fishing . Doesn't seem like a super expensive watch is ideal for that environment and saltwater might not be the best for it. Establish your AD relationship... Get a SMP300, Tudor Pelagos Blue, or FXD Blue for your "active" watch - or the BB58 Blue if you prefer neo-vintage look. Scratch that itch, and establish a spend/relationship with an AD that also carries Rolex.
Have a Rolex AD in the family so plan to go through them. I did read that being a repeat customer with an AD helps you get allocated hard to find Rolex's faster. Was reading some rankings that had Rolex as the #4 watch , Omega was #11, and Tudor was 21. I love Tudor watches. The Seamaster in blue is very good looking.
While it doesn’t fit a “one watch” scenario, you could get a diver (blue or green dial) and then a Cartier Santos (with same or different color dial) for work.
While I like the Smurf, can’t imagine spending 40-50k on that when you could get anything else. You could get a Starbucks, batgirl, a speedmaster and jlc reverso and just be done.
It is one of the coolest releases from W&W. There's clearly a "limited" market for a million-dollar desk clock. But Patek continues to not give a fuck and release what they want (and sell them all.)
