I want to say scrambled but it was over 10 years ago. Whatever’s considered the healthiest is probably what he did as he’s a total meathead.
They want to know if you want a Mountain Dew. Or some command native to whatever application you’re using.
We are launching a new partnership this week so we have three days of training. I’m sitting here in bed and just realized that of our leadership team the actual presentation distribution is totally out of whack Internal company assets will give 12 hours of content. The breakdown is my boss .5 hrs, three peers 3 hrs, Simon 7 hrs, marketing 1.5 hrs of which all content was created last week for the most part. I was wondering why I was feeling exhausted
I’m in the midst of a really shitty situation where my direct supervisor is not producing and it’s directly affecting me and my colleagues. To the point other mgmt at their level are asking me and others very direct and uncomfy questions. I don’t want to lay out too many details here but am looking for some advice. If anyone has experience with this type of situation, is in upper mgmt or HR…. DM me please.
I’ve been working on a bunch of projects with people at their same level and have been getting hammered with why other things arent moving forward. My side of things is all good for all projects. Same thing is happening to others. If feels like walls are caving in. It’s really not my style but it’s where I’m working towards. Makes me uncomfy but dunno what else to do.
your two options are: 1) to be proactive and let someone you trust know that there have been recent issues with his performance. They will likely want examples and to document what you say though so this could be dicey; or 2) wait for someone to ask you questions directly and then tell the truth you may think there’s a third option where you cover for this guy but that’s a terrible option and shouldn’t seriously be considered unless he’s a close friend or something. you could also tell him that it’s uncomfy for you to have to say this but people are noticing there’s been recent issues on some projects he’s working on and you want him to know so he has a chance to step it up
Contemporaneous memos for the record are also a good idea to cover your own ass even if you don’t proactively share them
I obviously know what a contemporaneous memo is but you should probably make it more clear for the guy who is going to bury his manager
goheels10 when you do memos to the record, it’s important to document the issues as they happen or within a day or two at most. The easiest and best way to do this is to send yourself an email documenting the specifics of the situation so it has a date and time stamp right there on it.
talking shit about poor performers at work is actually one of the few things that makes me comfy in this hell hole
I ended up pulling him aside, going for a walk and laying it all out. I framed it in that I'm being asked a lot of questions about the status of his work and its putting me in a difficult situation, and that I'm worried about him and the safety of his position (which was true). It was awkward for the first 15 minutes or so but then got much better and I think it ended on a good note. He's not a friend, I keep pretty strict boundaries between my work and personal lives, but he's a good boss for my personal workstyle and I'd like him to stick around. Time will tell if it worked though. I'm documenting the discussion. Thanks for being an ear the other night. I was panicking and didn't sleep much.
Late to the convo but yeah that was going to be my first question: "Do you want to keep working for this person?" You've given him a great chance to turn things around and you have a good story to tell in a potential interview for his position if he doesn't...a story that shows you're a team player, loyal, and can provide direct leadership.
One of my coworkers is a sovereign citizen. I never would have guessed because he is very competent at his job and in general just a no bullshit kind of guy. But he honestly thinks there are a series of magic words you can say to police to avoid citations or arrest.
I mean, they exist: "I'm a cop". You run into a lot of those types in the military, you know, the organization where your food, housing, healthcare, and paycheck are all taxpayer funded and run by government employees for government employees.
Talent Acquisition guy reaches out to me. TA: I’m hiring for a role at XYZ Company are you interested? Me: Please send me a job description TA: If you’re interested book a meeting with me through Calendry Me: Thanks but I don’t know what the job is so my interest or people I may know that would be good for it is undeterminable. I don’t want to waste your time Seriously you are searching me out. What the fuck is the job and if it sucks so bad you gotta try and sell me on it, no thanks
Maybe I’m doing things wrong but my LI profile and my resume look totally different from each other. I’m not putting on LI what I’ve delivered in roles, just what they are. I probably should be better at it
I have zero desire to fill out my LinkedIn like it’s my resume. Some of that shit is cringey. I always laugh when I see a current/former coworkers and I just know it’s a complete load of shit.
If you're actively looking for a job, I've always heard that it should look very close to your resume.
