I have one. I have always had the Pros, in 2016 and then 2020, but I spend the majority of my online time on my iPad so it is important to me. I also run some apps the benefit from the faster experience. Add that to the better display and sound (imo a big deal) makes it justifiable for me.
i think I’m gonna get it. It came out pretty recently I just hate getting one and then a new one will come out and be a big difference and best one ever
I inherited my Fathers iPad Pro (4th Gen 12.9in) and love it. Thing is a beast and other then my work computer it gets the most use. Will be a sad day when they stop giving it updates and it slows down bc I will then have to spend my own money on a new Pro.
I have a very old 2nd Gen iPad Mini. Last update it got was iOS12. A lot of apps wont run on it. But I still use it as a 3rd/4th screen for sports streaming (use my iPad air as a 2nd screen a lot), back up e-reader and use it to watch youtube in bed as I fall asleep. I dont even remember what year I bought it. Close to 7-8 years ago. Thing is still chugging along. Not bad for a tablet.
I’ve been thinking about trading in my iPad (last one with the home button I think) for the new iPad Air. Big screens are cool.
I think I’m convincing my job to get me a Mac Studio soon. I presented the “why” to them, now we wait and see. They have me doing some video rendering but mostly Adobe programs etc on an M1 MBA with 8GB Ram and 256GB storage. Come on.
This is a dumb question probably but - is it possible to a USBc cable to be damaged to where it will charge my ear buds case but not my MacBook? My current cord is a little beat up and am going to get a new one regardless. But hoping it’s that and not an issue a the computer/battery.
Cable could only be rated for 5W, which is well below what's needed to charge a MacBook. Check you powerbrick too, to see what kind of wattage it's pushing. Probably need at least 20W for the laptop.
It’s the cord that came w the MacBook. So i know it’s rated properly. To clarify my question - is it possible the cord is damaged enough to where it’s pushing out some wattage but not enough to charge the laptop?
Is the power brick you are using the same one that came with the MacBook as well? As the user above mentioned, the cord is only one part of the equation.
20w is way below what’s needed - MacBooks come with 60W or higher chargers. I mean it could charge at less, but it’s going to be extremely slow and if in use if the wattage is low enough all it would accomplish is make the battery drain slower.
That does seem weird then, but I guess maybe it’s possible. It seems like USB-C cords should be more impervious to this, since their contacts aren’t exposed, but I have had similar things happen with lightning cables. Sometimes one of the contacts would get damaged (and you could tell because it’d turn black), and it would stop charging certain things, but be fine with others. Or only charge if it was plugged in with the damaged contact facing the correct direction (and even the correct direction differed between devices).
Sounds like 45mm will be the smallest size for the Apple Watch going forward, at least for the main line of Apple Watches. https://www.macworld.com/article/23...es-10-larger-size-45-49mm-thinner-design.html
Update - laptop was fine. They just had to do a forced restart which is didn’t even know it was a thing. Command + Control + Power button. Started right up. Ran a diagnostic and everything is ok.
I just want it for leisure travel instead of bringing my laptop. I’ll only lug the laptop around for work trips
Did you ever solve this? I got a new phone last week and same issue. 3 years of no issue with CarPlay in my vehicle but now with a new phone I can't connect. Bluetooth works, my phone is discoverable, I get the code to pair my phone with the car, I click Yes to use CarPlay....even get the prompt to share contacts. Then Audi says "Connection could not be established. Please select a device compatible with the Audi Smartphone interface." I talked to a guy this weekend who got a new phone with the same issue....so now I'm back using a cord again.
My wife had this issue and it's been a while but I believe we fixed it by deleting the old phone(s) off the car and then discovering the new one
Anyone had an issue with iMessage switching from phone number to iCloud email and back and forth? I already set it only to send and receive from phone number and it’s still switching me out of some group texts.
went with the newer m3 air model and holy smokes this thing is amazing. I vastly underestimated how behind the times my old pro was
Bought both my kids an ipad for their bdays coming up. Told my wife I was tired of messing with shitty Amazon tablets and ipads were so much easier to use and they always work. Fast forward to tonight and my son's wont activate. Been working on it for like 2 hours. Gets stuck trying to update and nothing seems to help. Fuck.
so is there a preferred brand for a external ssd? have icloud but I am old fashioned and still like having a physical backup as well. looking for maybe 1 or 2 TB drive
I mean…pretty much any of the mainstream ones will be good. I probably have a slight preference for Samsung, but Seagate, WD, SanDisk, Crucial etc. are all good too.
not sure why that wont embed but just remove the spaces or I guess it still hyperlinks w/ spaces so whatevs https://www. amazon. com/SAMSUNG-Portable-SSD-1TB-MU-PC1T0T/dp/B0874XN4D8/ref=sr_1_1?crid=C2K5Y53PF1K2&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.1e7xIf9mgHwLWvSeT6yTUl_2bd4_XxTNWVGoDe8wDtHaeqdy_OfLzBzYCpk-ORIpATi756oWCH6zol5T_JWcwk5HwTP-hnyp-yAG0jcr3-XYhUSk8ogzh7PWpQoCr44lmQ_pdJZ_xRpfXPCPh5d8ZoOKDJ6KFRYh9NYPlJOBSj4lkpBfjXY_J5GFEJ7pwgN9JhFHAkR_tfi0OuN4GixpJ2Kv1z77jBBpRyGRg1-3h0A.f0RI2Py_YPDIkI-En94F9PLkIMUKFB90LvLTLLQOCJc&dib_tag=se&keywords=samsung%2Bt7&qid=1721755224&sprefix=samsung%2Bt7%2Caps%2C117&sr=8-1&th=1
Yes and i don't even remember how. After endless loop cycles I think I switched to setting up from another device and it worked.
My daughter’s iPad has been stuck on 25% all day after using it and charging it. Has anyone had this issue before?
