I’d be so upset. We were once in what we thought was an active shooter situation at a CF Walk. The police didn’t tell people they were doing one and an undercover officer walked through the park with an AR. You had hundreds of people scrambling. Kids with breathing conditions, olds, etc.

My wife got our guy and I picked up two little kids and ran into the woods with them to get them out of there.

It made the news on what idiots they were but damn it was scary af.

Idk if I’d go for losing a job unless the teacher has a history of dumb shit. Second chances and all that.

She got a call, and hung up the phone, locked the door and said "lockdown, shelter in place, in the corner". They pulled the blinds and blocked the door. Three minutes later someone came and banged on the classroom door and acted like they were trying to get in. Teacher goes and opens the door to two other classes with their teachers standing outside the door laughing. "OK, kids, April Fool's. Back to class".

That is incredibly fucked up. I don't understand how a teacher would think something like that is okay, regardless of their political views or whatever.

Quick question and maybe a.tramp can chime in since our kids are close in age, but any suggestions for finger foods for a 9 month old? I tried pasta pieces the other night and he doesn't seem to be chewing (or gumming) them up. Right now he is getting fed mostly breastmilk and two servings of pureed solids every day. We are pureeing mostly vegetables with some meat added into it or fruits. When I tried the pasta, he would try and swallow it and would try and spit it out.

I wanted to find something he could work on picking up and feeding himself to start getting better at chewing solid foods. Anything besides small pieces bread?

Also since I am in here, Levi just had 9 month check up. 30” (92nd percentile still) and can swim underwater for 10 seconds propelling himself. He is my little fish boy.

My kid is 8 months. Try putting the purees on toast so it's a taste he's familiar with. Soft foods like avocado and bananas. But we usually just give him what we have for dinner, just less seasoned and cut into tiny bites. He loves steak, and ribs lol

Emler Swim School. Weekly visit was free up until 6 months old. Now it is like $20/week. He was the only one in the class from 3-6 months and now there are generally 1-2 others in the class.

Did not get first born into swim lessons till later and regret it. Had him at Emler at 2.5 and he was making progress but we missed a few weeks, covid, etc. and he was terrified and regressed a ton. We decided to put it on hold since he really wasn't enjoying it and dreaded going. Will absolutely get the second one enrolled immediately.

I always try to figure out if there’s a way to link my sons sister with his other sister. My sons older sister stayed with me and my wife tonight even though she’s not really related to us. We have a really good friendship with my sons dad that he’ll let his other daughter stay with us. She’s 11 and loves coming over to watch my daughter. It’s just crazy that they are sisters to the same boy but not technically related. But I love being able to have good relationships to where families are so mixed now it doesn’t matter and really getting to it takes a community to raise kids.
This message is probably confusing but I’m just curious if the 11 year old at my house has any relation to my daughter who’s 4 months today outside of sharing a brother.

Made a real dumbass Dad move just earlier. My wife got one of these propellers stuck way the hell up in one of our large pine trees and it's (still) hanging on by a thread.

So I spent several minutes chucking a soccer ball to get it loose and of course got that stuck up on a branch, also hanging on by a thread. I tried getting THAT loose with a smaller soccer ball, even hit it a couple of times, but no success. Fuck trees, probably will have to wait until hurricane season and pray we get a light tropical storm running through Atlanta in September.

It would likely take it hitting the news for those teachers to face any real repercussions.

Calls to the principal / school board would result in something between a stern talking to to being transferred out to another school (depending on their history/tenure).

anyone have any ideas on how to keep an almost 3 year old from jamming his fingers up his nose at night? ours doesnt do it much, but its like he hits an artery sometimes.

has some periodic allergy issues, but weve given benadryl so not sure there. doesnt really mess with his nose during the day though, seems mostly at night.

Thanks for the tip a.tramp we had our first lesson at Emers and he loved every minute of it. He gets overwhelmed by groups of people bc he’s never really been around more than say 3 due to covid so his first few mins he was looking around but after that he loved it. Splashing and smiling the entire time.

I had a crazy day at work so I was rushed getting there and making sure we didn’t forget anything and weren’t late. Hanging with him in the pool watching him smile and everything, instantly fixed my mood and did a 180 for the day.
