Annnnnd he is climbing out of crib. Send help!
Our little man will sit upright and just keep falling over, wake up, sit down, fall asleep again. Rinse and repeat a couple more times over the course of a couple hours.
Little girl has learned she has a new cry/yell since getting her shots.
When we moved into our new house a year ago we decided to put our boys in a room together since they’re 20-months apart. We have never been able to keep our oldest in his room and our younger one just learned to jump out of his crib, so they will just sit there and fuck around for hours.
Finally have just started our oldest fall asleep in our bed at night and then move him when we go back. I’m sure this is going to backfire terribly.
Our daughter has RSV. Our youngest with the respiratory issues gets a vaccine once per month to protect against RSV. His last shot of the year was 3/25. Cutting it close but hopefully it works because he has already been exposed.
I loathe sickness season. Wife has spent the better part of the whole last week self quarantining in the bedroom as she has influenza A. Now looks like my 5 year old boy has it. Fml.
RSV season started early and insurance only approved 5 initially so he was supposed to be done a month earlier. Our pediatrician proactively applied for and did phone calls with the insurance company and they approved one more month. She is the hero in the story.
My kid has been sick enough to stay home nearly every week this year. It’s been incredibly challenging to manage. I don’t understand how people without incredibly flexible schedules manage. Just finished up a bout with pneumonia. Pediatrician said this is the worst year though, two
Anybody else's kids look creepily similar?
The top one is a FB memory from five years ago, the bottom is yesterday.
Your kid hasn’t grown much in 5 years
Well shower gf is no more.
She’s been replaced already. We actually like her but apparently she could never face us again after getting caught.
I have zero respect for Henry on Thomas the tank. No juice.
Damn. Would have made for a fantastic father of the groom speech.
This morning when we were getting ready to go to the pool at the resort we are on vacation at, my wife told me to sun lotion up the baby. I lotioned him up only to realize at the very end that I had lotioned him up with his butt rash cream...all over his body.
Our little guy entered the world at 5 AM this morning. We had a c-section scheduled for noon today but around 1 AM he had other plans. He’s fully healthy and mom is on her way to recovery. So incredible getting to hold him for the first time. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever experienced.
Enjoy the ride my man.
Also, send the baby to the nursery at night, it was the best advice I got when I had my kids.
Did not realize that was an option. The only breaks we got were when he was briefly taken away for vitals checks and blood work. Don’t think I slept at all those few days after in the hospital
Not all hospitals do it. First one did not second did. So necessary. Nurses constantly coming in picking and prodding baby or Mom waking both up in the process is hell.
I’m on day 6 of my solo dad adventure with my toddler. Wife returns early Sunday. The anxiety I had beforehand has been largely unfounded. Handling all duties hasn’t been nearly as challenging as I thought it would be, and we’ve bonded a ton. Been a blast really. Not that I would ever want this all of the time, but I’m glad I was forced into it. Figured I’d be booking sitters for breaks by now. Instead I’m planning a beach day for us Saturday. Leveled up
Hanging out with one kid ends up being pretty easy. Throw in a second and thats when the solo adventures get more "fun"
So my 5 year old is graduating preschool next month and starts kindergarten in the fall. The preschool sent home some songs for him to practice for their performance at their little ceremony. As my little buddy was practicing the songs with youtube, damn it got really dusty in my house. I remember his first day like it was yesterday. He's grown so much there. It's hard to believe we've had kids there for almost 9 years as they house the daycare as well. I'm honestly going to miss that place as they have done great by both of my children. I'm a bit worried about how I'll keep it together next month. Newdad's, enjoy it. It goes by way too fast.
Same here except instead of YouTube he just walks around the house singing.
did this and actually got some good sleep especially since we came in at 2 am
first kid my wife shamed the hell out of me for this saying I needed to do it and be a dad. Second it was like “okay, take him.”
Just got discharged from the hospital and now home with our baby, so the real fun begins. My wife has been incredible through this whole process. Her recovery from a c-section like 32 hours ago is amazing.
Its surreal walking through your front door for the first time with the little one
Not a bigger “what the fuck have I done?” moment in my entire life
so happy to see someone else say this.
Your mileage may very, but it really took about six months or so before I saw myself as a dad rather than the same guy who has a kid now.
I was calling mine "bro" and "little brother" for a good stretch of time
The elevator ride and hooking her into her seat were pretty wild.
yeah I always have said its ok to other new dads who dont have that instant "you rocked my world" feeling the first time you see your kid in the hospital. My initial first couple of weeks were more like "holy shit I need to keep this thing alive" but not the magical connection people describe. It was more of being up to the task to take care of this thing kinda of feeling. The 'father' connection took me a couple of weeks at least.
RSV developed in to pneumonia for our daughter. I’m pretty sure our oldest son has RSV now too because he is coughing. Thankfully the youngest has avoided it so far.
It was when the wife went back into the hospital for 4 days and me riding solo 4 weeks post birth that it hit me.
It’s much easier to bond with kid #2 now that’s she’s figured out bottles.
Jesus teething is the worst, little man woke up being a masochist at 430. But the snuggles so far are worth it.
Started inducing my wife yesterday. Said it could take a few days. Thank you to whoever said to bring your fire stick.
So Levi has randomly taken to telling me “good job” for the most obscure of things that I do. It happens about every 2-3 days now.
In 45 years, I have never had those or similar words spoken to me that convey as much meaning, or sense of accomplishment, in my life.
Today, it was me hooking up the water hose to the splash pad to make “bubbles.” Or specifically, the second I turned the faucet on and the bubbles came out.
8 year old has learned to say the exact same words sarcastically when he knows I am frustrated with something I messed up
Still no baby but things finally started moving this morning.
God speed. Waiting is the worst.
We had to get induced, then a long 2 days later they finally decided we weren't progressing enough and ended up with c-section. Was a relief to get the waiting and agony over with. Wife was a superstar during it all.
THREAD REMINDER 6 DAYS TILL MOTHERS DAY
Tickets to the Frisco Rough Riders game as my wife requested for Mother’s Day.
cricut maker as her little crafty side hustle is gaining momentum
