Last week our daughter would not sleep. She’d rest, then wake up and start babbling. Think she may have finally went down at 4am. this was her at daycare the next day.
The infant is not taking to standard time, toddler is fine with it, doesn't get up until his hatch turns green, "Green means GOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" Oh and he's finally becoming aware of poops and pees so guess we'll do potty training over the thanksgiving holiday.
my 17 month old will now tell us she pooped and then go sit on the area where we change her. So we're going to wait a few months then start potty training or at least that's the plan.
the toddler melts are ferocious these days. don't get what you want? throw yourself on the floor and act a fool
Foreseeing a bunch of “hell yeah dude” moments with my son as he alternates between man-sized burps and farts then going back to sleep.
I learned the hard way that I shouldn't get completely hammered on those nights away. Did a staycation a year or so ago and the first thing we did after checking in was take a nap.
Welp oldest tested positive for rsv, luckily he’s a little wheezy and 100% when the fever is subsided, downside is it’s a matter of time before the 9 month old get it and I’m not looking forward to it. Wife has scratchy throat and is coughing, this is the way.
My kids both ‘bought’ the 2023 Guinness Book of World Records and have been reading (read: competing about who knows more) the shit out of it.
We had one in our elementary school media center. The teacher always cut out the page where it displayed the lady with the biggest boobs in the world.
Anyone used an old cell phone and turned it into a nanny cam or baby monitor? Seems like there are a few free apps out there. Wasn't sure if anyone liked any specific ones.
Yeah, I've got a cheap one and it works fine...but heading to a country that bans anything that could be a surveillance device. Yes, it's dumb. Any old or current camera is like 100x better camera/recording
My wife is left Monday for a work conference. Gets home Friday night. My mom was planning on coming down tomorrow to watch my kids as they get out early tomorrow and don't have school Friday for conferences. Guess who tested positive for Covid and guess who gets to take 2 more unplanned vacation days on Thursday and Friday to watch the kids now. I may just have to ban my wife from traveling as the last time she traveled for work I had to miss 2 days because each of my kids ended up sick.
Wrong thread. Finally making progress on the two hour bedtimes. We discovered that as long as we leave the door open and he can hear us, he stays in bed and eventually drifts off to sleep. I feel like I have my life back
I don't really have anywhere else to vent so I'm just going to do it here. My wife and I had maybe our hardest day as parents yesterday. For context, our oldest is 14 and a freshman in h.s. He's a very good athlete, 6' 165 only kid to start both ways on his football team(tight end and d-end), plays AAU basketball (just made his 15u team for next summer last week) and is also a solid baseball player (doesn't play travel as it's more of a hobby than a passion). He's been going to open gyms and conditioning for his school basketball team, and a few of the upper classmen had been talking to him about how he might make the JV team for basketball. Try outs were this week, and he was cut from the freshman team yesterday. My wife had texted me when she picked him up that he got cut, and I thought it was one of their little jokes they were playing on me, but alas it was not. The kid works his ass off in the gym, weight room, etc. and is devastated as are we as parents. He's done some 1 on 1 training with the freshman coach last summer, so I reached out asking for feedback as whatever he said to him when he was cut kinda went in one ear and out the other I'm assuming due to shock. His feedback is fair and I get it, and I'm trying to remain unbiased when judging some who are on the team (that he played with last school year/summer) but it's very difficult because I honestly don't think they're nearly as good. I don't know if this is some motivation tactic or what, but my wife and I are at a loss on what to even say to him. We can't really tell him to work harder, he already works his ass off, obviously we're trying to encourage him. On top of that, our 5 year old was way past his limit of tiredness yesterday and was just losing his shit for about 2 hours leading up to bed time. Roughly 5 tantrums back to back about the most mundane shit, so we're trying to handle both of these things simultaneously and my god was it exhausting.
That’s a shitty situation. Never fun to get cut. If the coach gave some things to work on, work on those. Continue to work on dribbling and shooting.
The unfortunate things with most high school sports teams is it is a political decision in some cases. One kid on the high school team here can’t even throw the ball from third to first in the air but his dad is the AD. The one thing I would focus on is while it hurts to not make that team the AAU circuit or travel circuit in baseball is where most recruiting is done anyways if he is looking to play into college. This gives him more time to work on individual aspects of his game and come pissed and ready to show out in AAU. It hurts, it sucks for them. You just have to find a way to put a bow on a giant bag of dogshit.
The asshole sports parents thread has plenty of fuckery stories. It absolutely sucks but And these days it is happening well before high school.
Started in 8U baseball here. Not that it matters because sports should be 99% fun at that age, but the cronyism/favoritism is a little disheartening. The name brand families always end up where they want. It probably doesn’t help that I actively politic to break up that block of ‘power’.
Last I knew he was only biting the one kid being a dickhead. Must have missed the other and for that I’m sorry.
idk probably more sensitive to it. But he has struggled and is having to do therapy weekly to get it sorted out. Had a bad week last week, but 3 straight good days this week. The streak ended today....or I should say put on pause. He threw up on himself multiple times last night. and was up constantly between 1 and 4 am.
Absolutely not. WED’s travel woes are a constant source of entertainment GoodForAnother maybe he should get a hotel lol
I’m sorry man that has to be taxing. Our kid was a massive biter. One teacher even bit him back once to show him it hurt and wasn’t nice. It sounds like you all are doing everything you can to help. The only thing I can say is that those things that seemed like big challenges and hurdles when we went through them looking back aren’t so big some times. All you can do is love them with everything you’ve got, and try to help anywhere you can.
