To be fair, that text in the second tweet is standard in a lot of these products (i.e., automatically entered, not human entered). It might seem over dramatic, but if ppl heed that maybe we have fewer ppl driving/fewer pile ups I would agree the language in base (low level) severe thunderstorm warnings and such are a bit much, but for this I think it's appropriate. My
Do you know where your pipes are located? Interior walls only or exterior walls? If interior you should be fine. If exterior, set the furthest facets away from the source to a steady drip (both hot and cold). A few gallons of water can save you hundreds if not thousands if your pipes burst.
This is why I love this board. Thank you for responding with your knowledge. it’s going to be a trying time for us Texans, especially Houstonians, in the next 3-4 days.
Oh cool, two big snow events bringing 12” of snow two days apart while we are still dealing with a sheet of ice on the roads from Tuesday
I'm heading to the liquor store, and getting some extra charcoal to smoke some meats during this. Ima be perma-drunk/eating good next week.
I went to get some food on Tuesday evening(that's when the ice started here) and merged into the turn lane (it was a solid sheet) and my ass end went sideways into oncoming traffic, ass end got traction, I did a little taper-roo on the gas and pushed myself into my side of the road out of the turn lane and just said fuck it and went to the stop light to turn into my neighborhood. Turn lane was a solid sheet and couldn't see it at the time, but at the stop light it wasn't frozen yet. In about a span of 15 minutes roads went from ok to frozen from when I left the house.
Lol there’s a follow up video to this. The kid tries to run away but then stops and gets caught like 5 seconds later
It really is. Southerner saying that calling a near blizzard with potential for -15 wind chill in the south potentially life threatening is dramatic is /chefskiss when every time is snows an inch in 30 degree weather cars spontaneously explode
This is shaping up to be one of the most significant weather events DFW has ever seen. Near record low temps, top 10 snowfall amounts, and consecutive time below freezing are all 3 coming into play. The only saving grace is that it is going to be a dry snow but fully expect DFW to be mostly shut down all next week. There is simply not the infrastructure to deal with this in place here.
I had to fly from Las Vegas to Cincinnati when Dallas got its biggest snowfall ever in 2010. My Dallas connector got cancelled and I got routed through OHare in Chicago. I then found out it was snowing in Atlanta, so I booked a room at OHare. Delta and American routed everything through OHare because Dallas and Atlanta shut down. Ive never seen more people stranded. OHare was like a refugee camp, people just everywhere.
I am not sure there is any point shoveling as the city is not very equipped to do very much of anything with the streets other than to spread salt/sand on the major highways and roads.
Just loaded up on food and drinks/booze for the next 7 days. I’m not going anywhere for a week after tomorrow night boys.
I just read that both Dallas and Fort Worth each have about 1 dozen plows . So that will keep the highways somewhat clear so people can pass through but good luck outside of that.
i wish i was vaccinated because i would have left to ride this thing out at jj's i emerge from jj's a week later after binging on food and beer with a $45 bar tab
On the way to the store I saw someone's gaudy driveway fountain overflowed and turned the driveway and one lane of the street into a skating rink
Also my appointment for the second dose tomorrow got canceled. Probably won’t be able to get it until next week
Sorry Texas fam. It makes me feel extra bad for you when I remember that you dont have legal marijuana, u fukin psychos.
uh, I would say the week after that. We have a chance for an additional 1-3” for each of these occasions. Tuesday, Tuesday night, Wednesday night.
