Why is Theo Von suddenly everywhere?

I think Rinella might have opened you up to the Rogan sphere. Especially if you were consuming this on youtube. The "everything leads back to JRE" jokes about youtube's algorithm have some merit imo

 

I've also noticed that when you watch reaction clips to JRE or Ben Shapiro types you'll get more right-wing content in your youtube feed. For example, I clicked on the Hasanbi video, and one of the suggested videos was from a PragerU account.

 

Bobby Lee's ex who seems to have no friends in that comedy family.

 

My friends were super into this guy a few years ago. Shockingly, I didn't get it

 

It’s definitely an intentional push. I had no idea who Theo Von was 6 months ago, and if I scroll tiktok for more than 5 minutes I’ll get at least one clip. I think what they do is make a shit ton of spam accounts like @theovonclips or something generic like that which aren’t official accounts but they post 5 clips per day with a million tags so it’s bound to pop up if you’re even slightly interested in comedy.

I believe he OD'd once fwiw. He's talked about doing lots of drugs when he was young, but just the one overdose on GHB... not that one overdose isn't a big deal.

 

Pretty much all the algorithms will feed you into the right wing spiral, it’s bad.

 

Reddit hit me with a “you might like” something called KillTony and it was a clip of an amateur comedian that was pretty funny. Downloaded the latest episode of the podcast to check it out and the first guy on stage was going off about Fauci for two minutes. Turns out that podcast routinely has Rogan and I think even Alex Jones. Big time yikes on my part.

Austin is really turning into chud comedian paradise.

 

American pop culture really started to slip when we gave any D-list comedian free range to pick apart political issues. Tony Hinchcliffe is just the tip of the iceberg of bad Austin comedians.

I do think we're slowly seeing the erosion of the Rogan ecosystem. Many of those dudes aren't seeing the same clicks as they used to 5-7 years ago. The Seguras and Cummings of the comedian podcast world seem out of touch with their audiences and just don't have new material IMO.

 

Is Brendan Schaub still trying to be funny? Because he sucks at it in every format.

 

He’s still a bad comedian. But I think people look at him differently after the whole Bobby Lee deal.

Old school listeners of Jim rome will remember that back in the day (2009, 2010 timeframe) jay mohr used to guest host for Rome and he would bring segura on with him on occasion. He was funny back then. He was unshaven and looked homeless and the listeners would love to send in Tom segura bum smack.

 

No chance he moved into y’all parish later on? I'm actually trying to think of ways for this to be accurate because the later is so much worse. New Orleans already has one white guy co-opeting culture to make it Barstool Sports (iykyk). I'm highly curious to see what his Road Rules episodes sound and look like.

A buddy of mine saw him in Boston about a year ago and I told him to yell “hello at the show” at him to see what happened. Apparently he didn’t react at all but obviously I don’t know if he heard the mating call
