Hoo wee yup. He'll setup a whole made up game for him and little brother and little bro either quits a minute in cause he's tired of hearing how much he's losing or just doesn't play at all and then we have a meltdown. He's gotten better with it overall but it's still really the only kind of stuff that causes major fits.
my son must read the board because I took him to get a haircut yesterday and he asked for "a thunder" (he meant a lightning bolt, he's a good kid but we're not expecting great test scores). I did keep my word and let him get it. he was so pumped to go to school this morning.
My 8 year old can be like this but he’s a team sports addicted kid so the rules you speak of are the actual sports rules. He will play knee hockey the hallway and my 5 year old will say “penalty” at which point his older brother explains why it isn’t actually a penalty. ABs then gets upset when the younger brother disagrees.
Same. He would leave basketball games in tears because they wouldn't call double dribbles and travels on the other team.
11 year old is finally over the pig loss catastrophe reaction stuff, might have been for a year or so now. Of course he has gotten to where he is legitly competitive with me in a game of pig now too. Only time he gets all acting butt hurt is weekends when we are out there late and he is overly tired he starts to get whiney He would cry if they lost a team sport a few years ago, but no crying so much now unless it's a championship. You can tell the regular games still bother him, but i think that's a good level of competitiveness.
I’d say something to watch in bigger groups and see how he differs (birthday party, sports, talk to teacher, etc). Is still young to diagnose. Our youngest got diagnosed at 4 because of impulsive behavior and he has Down syndrome so he has a lot of trained eyes watching him constantly with therapies. We wouldn’t have asked to have him tested at that point.
I want to and don't at the same time. I have looked into it recently, but found $1,200 cost with my HDHP. I don't want Adderall. Without pursuing anything, I guess I will keep doing it my way. Journaling and writing things down to become self aware is not something I feel like I would maintain. I do feel like my focus at work suffers. Checking this board doesn't help.
Our tub a couple years ago just stopped draining. Couldn't figure out why - did drano, etc. Finally took the thing apart and dug out about half dozen nubs and broken pieces of those crowns. Fuck those things.
Any other toddlers ask for songs by their color? “I want the orange one” means September because that’s the background color on the truck display when you play it through apple play. “I want the big orange one” means to click on the part of the display where the music is displayed which will maximize the music selection across the whole screen. Wife just text to say she asked for the purple one and that daddy plays it in his truck. The purple one is Celebration by Kool in the Gang. Also didn’t realize a 2.75 yo would have their own play list.
Brought home little one #2 to complete our family with the little guy being added to our girl. Came a few weeks early and forgot how hard the newborn stage is while fleeting as well.
A lot of the ADHD kids I test will crush the visual-spatial tasks, so this tracks. Based on the last page, if anyone has any ADHD questions, feel free to slide into the DMs.
I built legos with my son, he knocked out a 6yr old one all by himself yesterday, but then the just makes Frankenstein figures and turns them all into skibidi toilet characters.
Hell yes! I got my 9 year old a 90cc for Christmas, and my 6 year old is now wanting one because his electric one is too slow.
My son walked into my room holding a rock. Confused where he got a rock, I asked to see it. It was a giant clump of cat litter piss.
Question: for those of you with teens, what sort of debit/credit card solution do you have/recommend? Things are getting to the point that they need to have plastic, and a lot of the usual neobank suspects seems to have some pretty good financial tools that really would've helped me. Long story, I had to carry my own car payment/insurance early on because of family circumstances. Otherwise school was pretty much free for me until grad school. After that, due to loans, etc., we've had a pretty tough time with debt. I'd like to set my kids up a little better...so the "tools" thing is cool. More immediately, just want an easy payment/transfer solution that allows us to ask "why did you spend $35 for lunch" when knowing the answer.
We used Greenlight for a while and then just ended up giving him one of our cards when we got sick of making the transfers. He also has a debit card connected to his checking account we give him $100 a week in. We were just looking today at what credit card to get him as well.
I can confirm this as well. My son is 95th percentile and my daughter is 90th in visual-spatial from their testing.
In the past week or so 3 year old has ditched his training wheels and swimming vest. Hitting these milestones well before big bro.
A. Not athleticism related, if I had to guess right now older one will be more athletic. More fearless at this age. And also access to pools wildly differed. B. I could still throw the pads on
Damn my four year old is funny as fuck. We obviously know where he gets it but it still blows me away how quick he is with the cheekiness at his age.
Current situation is 3 yr old does not take a nap and goes to sleep pretty quickly between 8-8:30 and wakes up between 6:30-7. As she gets older will she not go to sleep as quick at that time? Like when she’s 4 Will she not be as tired at 8, and the bed time when need to be pushed back to 9? Just curious because if she took a nap today trying to get her to sleep tonight would take forever that’s why we don’t do naps.
My 5 (almost 6) year old goes to bed when her 3 year old sister does around 7-7:30. They fall asleep between 7:30-8:30. Neither one naps on the weekends, they both have one nap/quiet time at school/daycare. Just depends on the kid and routine.
My son has dropped naps and is essentially exhausted at 5pm. Doesn't sleep and then starts acting crazy. He's really into pouting right now. "Not Fair" and whining. I FUCKING HATE IT
We took our 8 year old son and 5 year old daughter to Disney World for a day and then on a Disney cruise. They could not have been more ungrateful whiny complaining etc... I about tossed them off the boat a few times. Going to be a while before we do something nice for them again. They were obviously walking around doing more than they usually do for a week straight so I get it somewhat but it was on another level.
that's disappointing. i have been putting off doing the big disney trip for mine for a while and we have been talking about planning one for next year. may bump that another year.
when we went to disney a couple of years ago, the kids were great but my inlaws were awful and whiny and complained the whole time. I guess at least they paid for it all.
