I’m working, wife and kids are off. She took the youngest to the zoo so it’s not bad here, 8 year old son is just playing Mario Odyssey.
I went to the mall on my lunch break...didn't know there was an easter event and apparently every kid in the county off school was there Spoiler
my 4 year old almost never goes to bed before 8:15-8:30 reading him HP right now has helped avoid the 10 PM nights though, usually wakes up around 7:00
I feel your sentiment, ours wants a monster truck and to watch the same "going on a bear hunt" video then he passes out. We read during the day so I think he gets his fix then.
I should clarify that he is 99th percentile now on meds. He was performing at about an 88-91 test range before meds. When he was 3-4 math was his hyper focus and he was doing 3 digit addition & subtraction in his head.
Anyone used Nuna, more specifically the urbn infant seats and Demi next stroller? There weren’t many quality (per reviews) options was seeing for twin mode with 2 carriers, and less with a baseless seat that would fit. Decided to go baseless since we can name 5 vehicles that they might somewhat regularly travel in. Extra bases and just eating that much space or installing over and over does not seem ideal. Regular seat logistics will be annoying when that time comes. Anyway, ordered that nuna set for now in case prices go up on goods, but may return on solid advice in a different direction.
My MIL usually picks up our son on Mondays and brings him home. I had to do it today instead. Why you ask? Because if my MIL did, she’d drop him off and see her 40 year old daughter skipped work today because she was “tired” and she didn’t want her mom to know.
We used the Nuna Pipa because my wife liked it more for whatever reason. It was fine, no complaints. Our strollers are uppababy so can’t help there.
We went infant seat + extra bases route. No regrets with what feels like basic graco. Nunas were definitely lighter than graco but a solid cheap base that are very easy to install plus everyone has attachments to their strollers for them. Baby jogger gt2 I think is what we got and now veer wagon. Everything is going strong with 3 year old and 1 year old now
Coached my sons 1st tee-ball "game" on Sunday. When we signed him up I asked jokingly if I should be the coach and he said yes. Luckily I signed up as an assistant coach, and the HC has an older son and experience coaching. Was a great time and he loves sports so we had a blast. Side note. Signing him up and myself up to coach was more work than I expected, as it's an official Little League program. Had to do a background check and take a concussion exam. For him, it required 3 proofs of residency, which was more than required to enroll him in kindergarten which only required 2
Did HC for soccer at 3 and learned my lesson. Between the kids being all over and parents expecting legit instruction (heavily Hispanic area, and there were kids who came in with actual skills for about half the squad) it was rough. I had zero experience with the game. Volunteered as an assistant in my kids pre-k/kindergarten wrestling room because they needed bodies and that was not nearly as bad because I was not primarily in charge of anything. Youth coaching just is not worth it in my opinion, aside from spending time with my kid. We can do that on our own time.
T ball is the hardest to coach. just herding cats and nobody is listening. but it's good to do it early if you want to coach later when it's actually fun.
My wife has been “exhausted” from work stress recently and never has the time/energy for anything outside of her normal routine. Guess who had time/energy for a 3 hour hair appt this morning? Guess who will also complain about work piling up this week?
It fucking sucks. Me and 3 buddies from college coached a little league team in NoVA and had a blast. But as a parent, I won’t do it. My kid doesn’t want to be coached by me and I don’t want to deal with all the parent bullshit. I’m happy to just play pickup with him and his friends when they ask me and I’ll drop little coaching nuggets as we play.
Yea, managed the dugout when our team was batting but had no one on 3rd base so the kids just kept running (it's a move up 1 base league). And half the kids aren't interested at all
you weren't kidding about getting stuff before the tariffs hit Albee baby is showing the new prices as of 5/1, https://www.albeebaby.com/collections/pre-tariff-pricing Just grabbed 2 convertible car seats for the new car for $400 will be $550 in 2 days :puke:
Yes. Camp kids get fast passes, so whatever they're not afraid of/too short for, they get to ride without the wait. Plus they both love animals and they get to do stuff to scratch that itch. It's the one camp that they get excited about and wipes them out.
Effin hair appointments man. 2-3 hours and 200-300 chucks. Not to mention I’ll be the one cleaning the hair out of the vacuum roller every month.
Surprised she couldn’t drive down the street and pick him up after laying in bed all day. More stories of how lazy your wife is please.
Think my kids have a sixth sense of some sort. My 2 year old has slept through the night for forever now. My wife had a real early flight for work and I’m riding solo for a couple days with him and his 4 month old sister. Just need a nice night’s sleep for everyone. He decides to wake up at 1230, wake his sister up and not go back to sleep for 2.5 hrs last night.
My wife bought that Skylight countertop calendar organizer thing, even put it all together and did the setup. The kids are pretty intrigued by it, we are hoping it tricks them into wanting to do a chore so they can touch the screen
Oldest just turned 3 and has been potty trained-ish since she was probably around 2 years and 8 months. Still only poops in a diaper and we basically have to force her to go pee during the day. She would probably hold it all day if we didn’t. I thought after 4 months things would get better but if anything she’s gotten worse. Anyone else have this type of experience?
Ok so the “tasks” feature lets you assign star values to individual chores then you can create rewards that the kids cash out their accumulated stars to earn. Genius. Kids were eager to clean up clothes and brush teeth. Wonder how long it will last.
How long until they figure out they can get away with half assing or not at all doing a chores and still click on there as complete?
